    Taxes? (Non-US Publishers)
What do non-US publishers have to do if anything viz-a-viz taxes? I know CJ wants a W8 form. After that does the US govt want a 1040NR filed, or are no taxes due to the US?

How about European publishers? What do you have to do viz-a-viz VAT?

(ps. I know I just asked a question on this topic from the US publisher viewpoint but it's a long story - I'm currently US but will probably be non-US next year...)

Affiliates who don't live in the US do not owe any taxes to Uncle Sam. You are only responsible for reporing your income to your own tax authority in the country where you live.

Non-US based affiliates do not need to fill out a 1040R.

If you are an affiliate working on commission, you do not need to collect any VAT.

Disclaimer: I am 100% confident of these facts, however I am not an accountant or a tax specialist. You'd be best speaking to an accountant if you have any specific questions.

Thanks. However CJ does ask for a VAT number if you're located in Europe, so it would seem to me that something has to be done on this front... any Europeans out there care to comment on their experiences?

    Here's how it is:

As an european publisher, you don't have to fill in your VAT number - if you even have one.

You will receive your payments, and then it's up to you to pay taxes and everything.
