    Is there Fitness Software??
Some friends and I are looking at doing a little New Years Resolution bet for weight loss.. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for us to trak what we do as kind of support??

I was thinking if throwing up some kind of site we would use to enter in weights/measurments/meals kinda thing but can't find anything out there..

Do any of you use or know of something we could use to track our progress, or lack of

    Hey Tony,

I have tried, and really like Crosstrainer (http://www.crosstrainer.ca/). The software has menu options for diet tracking with tons of built in food descriptions. It also has an exercise section where you can schedule, count reps, distance or progress and estimates the number of calories burned. What's nice is it leaves extensive room for notes and the ability to add custom areas to almost everything it's tracking. Plus accurate and quick graphing ability (nice for someone who needs to track sugar intake or cholesterol levels). The only downside to the software is the interface design is not very pretty and at times can be counter-intuitive.

Thanks for the tip.. I looked at it and it looks like it's pretty nice.. The group cost is pretty good also..

I had hoped there was something I could put online for them so we could act kind of as a support group but this might do the trick if I can't find anything..

This is a pretty good software. Charts out your goals and tracks changes.
    Worth a look.

    Fitness Software
I like Yourself!Fitness which has versions for XBox, PS2 and PC. I also like to use a little DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) because its not the usual boring workout.

You can also try Kinetic for the PS2 (Requires the EyeToy), but I haven't tried this one... yet. So I can't give a review.

I also suggest getting a pedometer and wearing it all day. It makes you aware of how much you move around during the day and helps you try to be more active.

    Hi hotspice,
I just found your thread. It has been exactly a month since New Years day, are you keeping with your New Years resolution? I hope so. Deciding on a healthy lifestyle is the best thing you can do for yourself and I hope it is going well. While I'm not a trainer or any form of health professional, my only advice for you is to find the program that works the best for you and be patient with it.

At the USDA site you can enter the foods you eat and the exercises you've done, and it will tell you if you are burning enough calories to lose weight. It will also keep a record of all this information so you can look at your nutrient intake and physical activity in graphs. Here is the link: http://www.mypyramidtracker.gov/login.aspx Best of all, it is free!

You're welcome! Glad you liked it! I've lost about 20 pounds so far from exercising and using this site. After you save your food selection for the day, instead of clicking on ,

Ooops!...hit the wrong button! Anyway, instead of clicking on "Calculate DG Comparison", scroll down to "Calculate Healthy Eating History", and it will tell you what nutrients you need more or less of. This is where you can see how well you have been eating over a period of time - up to 1 year.

Greetings all, I'm new to ABestWeb but I've been involved closely with the Pilates/Yoga/Fitness Industry for about 10 years now:

Here are some resources I recommend:

www.calorieking.com for about $24 buck a YEAR you can track your food and exercise online. The will customize meal plans for you and have almost every food you can find at the grocery store or fast food restaurant in their database.

www.corepoweryoga.com is a website that you can download yoga classes from. They teach a Vinyasa yoga style which is more fast pased and allows you to build internal body heat thus making the muscles more pliable for stretching.

www.collagevideo.com is a site that shows clips of almost every workout video you can image. It's neat to watch a clip of the video to see if you like it or not before you buy.

Also, Ross Dress for Less is a GREAT place to get really cheap workout DVD and VHS tapes. Usually at the front near the checkout they have a display (usually very messy!) but you'll find great DVD's on Pilates/Yoga/Step/Cardio and more for usually $8 or less!

Good luck everyone with your fitness endeavors! I agree too that you've got to find something you enjoy doing.

I tried a few as well and really like Perf control (the free version)http://www.performlabs.com

it does workout scheduling and stats tracking generates reports and other good features. they have commercial products with a diet planner that calculates food nutrients but didn't tried.

very pretty interface and pretty printing as well

If you have an ipod this place is amazing but it only offers a virtual personal trainer, not the tracking, but the workouts are killer ( well I am out of shape so that it me, lol)

    http://www.podfitness.com

They have a free 10 day trial i think, plenty of time to decide if you like it or not, you can get 20 workouts during your trial and reuse them if you want ( they allow two a day I believe)
