    Copyright question
My wife is wanting me to put her up a Pooh site, but I'm concerned about the copyright issues. Does anyone have any input or experience in this area?

    Thanks.

Are you talking about putting Pooh somewhere in your domain name or just selling Pooh stuff on a site.

She is wanting both. She has noticed that a ton of other people have Pooh in their domain names, and I know some companies don't mind as much. But with it being Disney, I'm a little concerned about it. The Disny Store, which I'm guessing might have some affiliation (haven't looked in that store enough to know) has one of their reasons for not approving someone as having copyrighted material on the site that is requesting to be an affiliate.

I've told her to make a general baby site and put Pooh products up through merchants, but she kinda wants a targeted Pooh site with a Pooh domain.

Thanks for the quick reply btw.

The Disney Store is Disney. The second domain i ever bought (newbie) i lost because of a similar situation, the TM holders have it now. I see some sites out there that have been running for awhile with TM in the domains. But with Disney I would think they're pretty strict about that kind of thing. Like you said it depends on the merchant or the TM holder. You could ask to make sure but I would guess the answer would be no. I would try for another domain and you can still have Pooh in the title tags and such and sell all the Pooh stuff you want.

It's best to avoid the issue altogether. If the TM holder gets persnickety (and many of them DO), even in cases that the court would toss out onto the sidewalk, you still get stuck paying some fatcat lawyer at least a few $k just for answering the letters and showing up in court.
