    Free robot tracking service???
    I just found this site that claims to send you an email every time a robot hits your site. I have not tried it yet, they say they send you a file that must be installed on your site. I don't know enough about code to know if the file is safe or not. Maybe someone here can tell me.

    I don't know either but installing something on your site that you don't know about is sure a good way to have something installed on you site that is a parasite or anything else that you can think of.

    I wouldn't do it.

    I agree that's why I posted it here first, to see if anyone had any info.

    You can do this yourself with just a few lines of PHP or CGI code.

    You should be able to create a file called something like bot.php

    The bot.php file:
    Code:
    <?php
    //Change the following to your email address
    $email = "myemail@something.com";
    if(eregi("googlebot",$_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']))
    {
    mail($email, "Googlebot detected",
    "Google has crawled : ".$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
    }
    ?>
    Then call it using a regular ssi:

    Code:
    <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="bot.php"-->
