January 13th, 2006, 10:13 AM #1Popups tracked?
Hmmm...was just wondering about popups. I don't usually surf around my merchant sites but was looking for some after Christmas clearance items and the Clearance section when clicked has a pop up that says something like to see our clearance items click HERE...
So, this got my suspicious little mind wondering if that popup somehow cancels out my id and commissions if someone actually clicks it...any speculations or actual experience with this type of thing?
Thanks in advance for all the thought provoking responses I am sure will follow!

Don't click on a popup at Dell.com, as they always take you across the invisible line, killing the session cookie between the BF and LS programs. I don't know about other merchants with multiple network programs, but the LiveHelp popups are always suspect. Other site wide diversions suspects are "BillmeLater", Giftcards and some gift registry services. Basically some affiliate Adwhore operations slide online customer service applications between the referral customer and the checkout counter.Webmaster's... Mike and Charlie

I'm not a expert but I would think that with most merchants, if the tracking cookie was placed it should track your sale. Having said that, it will most likely depend on the merchant and their tracking. Some merchants donít pay commissions on clearance items.

Ecomcity probably knows better than myself. We were both posting at the same time.
Until I joined this forum, I was unaware that so many large brand name merchants are screwing affiliates. Iíve always been suspect of some programs, but I always thought that the big ones with plenty of cash would be honest. Boy was I wrong!
