    Cloaking AFF Urls?
    Hi,

I read alot in these forums about affiliates not using 'raw' affiliate links because it's not good for the SE's .

How do you mask or cloak them?

I believe using mod_rewrite in .htacess (if your on a linux/unix box)

But if your on a Windows, its alittle tougher. There are scripts & such for rewriting. I wrote my own in CSharp for .NET platform.

If you run on a .net / windows, I can point you in the right direction, just PM me.

If you're on an Apache web server, insert the following text in a file called .htaccess:

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteRule ^go/(.*)$ http://$1 [R]

Then simply change all affiliate urls from "http://www.url.com/" to "/go/www.url.com/".

    Thanks everyone!

I checked with my hosting company and they run on "Debian Linux" ... so I can use the .htaccess - which I know how to use now (thanks)

But after reading through the posts in the forum suzigeek sent me to (and having my head spin) I wonder if it really IS BETTER in terms of SEO??
