Spammers that get their website shut down
    I was thinking about spammers...
More precisely: when a spammer gets a complaint, then eventually, the server that hosts their website must shut down their website, right?
So what I am wondering... would the spammer not just have to upload his site to another server? And then spam away again? ( ie. a server in the Caymans or whatever )

    Just a thought,
    -Dave

    or...

do they own their own servers and not actuallly shut down the site, but only rename it and possibly move it to another of their own servers so it appears they are following the rules?

    Thanks Lec,
    WTF really?
Don't the spam police ( FBI? ) think about that and try to thwart that?

    OK I'll come clean here...
The reason I am asking is,
A week ago, I thought, for the first time ever ( I always have just used SEO an PPC for advertising ) to buy one of those bulk email campaigns.
    The company claimed " CAN-Spam Compiant "

Well, long story short, while the campain made me little or no sales... I DID get a nice email from my web host saying that I got a spam comlaint
And today I got another email saying that they must shut my site down in 24 hours.

I sent them and email apologizing.

Basically, I won't ever be buying this kind of email campaign again.
Even thought they say "Spam Compliant", well, it doesn't matter... someone could still complain.

I guess I'll just get a new host, and stick to SEO, PPC, newspapers, and other acceptable forms of marketing.

Please don't hate me people, I really thought it was canspam compliant

Serious spammers get hosting overseas as you suspect...

    That's the best way!

As for the list being "CAN-Spam Compliant,"--There are a few loopholes in that law, which make it so that certain spams are "legal" in terms of actual criminal law. But even if it's legal, that doesn't mean that nobody will complain, or that anybody actually wanted the spams! And, as you found out, it doesn't mean your host will go along with you sending them...
