    Prayers are needed please
folks I need your prayers, It has been a long and difficult year for me I have not touched my web pages in that time. It seems my husbands cancer is still in check but he developed blood clots in his leg in sept and has been bedridden since Sept. He only was born one kidney and now he is severly dehydrated for the second time in 2 months. I admitted him to emergency today and he is in ICU.
I am running out of steam trying to be a care taker for him. I am so afraid of what is happeneing. I have been caring for him the past few months with a hospital bed in my living room, visiting nurses and lab technicians. And may I add a doctor who has called the wrong shots. Needless to say she has been dismissed.
Again I ask for your prayers!

    Cazzie,

My prayers and thoughts are with you. Being the caretaker of my mother she just went through a similar thing with being dehydrated and her kidney being dry. She also has only one kidney due to cancer many years ago. Her doctor had her on so many medicines for other problems and some of them were ones that would cause the problems with the kidney being dry which they ended up taking her off of. I believe one was a high blood preasure pill, a Thyroid pill and one other that I can't recall.

I'm sure the Doctors have checked all of that out but just in case I thought I would mention it to you. Once again my thoughts are with you and your husband.

Thoughts and Prayers to you and your husband.

It's a struggle to find a good physician - now days you really have to be more aware of the conditions, treatments and keep yourself educated about them. Networking with people that have similar conditions (if possible) helps.

Remember to take care of yourself also. Big HUGS.

    Cazzie,

Really sorry to hear of your troubles, hang in there. To go through what you've had to deal with must be awfully draining. I'll be thinking of you and your husband, best wishes.

    Cazzie,

Having gone through a lot of what you are describing with my dad for over nine months, I can sympathize with you. It sounds like you have done everything that you can or could be doing. Hang in there! You and your husband will be in my prayers.

Also, while we are asking for that kind of support today, please pray for my mom's brother. He is a 10 year surviver of cancer, has been on an experimental drug regiment for years, but there is now a growth on a kidney that requires removal of his kidney today. This brother has been there for my mother through my dad's cancer, death and helping her with garage sales, moving, etc, when his own health should have been his first concern. I don't want this to redirect Cazzie's thread, so please don't comment about it...just add him to your prayers and thoughts today.

Cazzie, please keep us informed and let us know if there is anything we can do for you. You'd be surprized who might just show up to help...we are not as isolated as we all think we are.

Hey Cazzie, I figured you weren't hanging around much lately because you'd retired or just didn't need us anymore! It never occurred to me your husband had taken such a bad turn. Last time we chatted he was doing so well.

You and your husband are in my thoughts and I hope his health improves soon, and you can take a well deserved rest.

Our prayers are with you and your husband, too. We have been in your situation, taking care of my mother-in-law and father-in-law since they both had strokes, diabetes, thyroid problems just to name a few. The home care was tough, but it was the easy part. We spent more energy fighting with doctors, lawyers, social services and family members in order to maintain their dignity and at-home lifestye. We were originally told that they could live another two years, but only if we admitted them into a nursing home. After 9 years we proved them wrong. It was exhausting, but we'd do it again if necessary.
