I know everyone likes to optimise their site for 800x600 as it seems to be the most commonly used resolution, but I just looked at the stats for my visitors and found something weird...

1024x768 : 115
1280x1024 and greater : 33
800x600 : 10
Undetermined : 9
640x480 : 1

Those figures are for this month.

Last month it was the same order and virtually the same differences. So my visitors using 1024x768 outweigh those using 800x600 by a factor of 11.5 (so far).

My ghost site is designed for 1024x768, so do you think the visitors realise this and change resolution or are they all getting new monitors as early chrismas presents?

Dynamoo.com:

1. 1600x1200 30 1.34%
2. 1280x1024 155 6.93%
3. 1152x864 100 4.47%
4. 1024x768 1,059 47.36%
5. 800x600 650 29.07%
6. 640x480 38 1.70%

CreepyGuy:

1. 1600x1200 1 0.10%
2. 1280x1024 17 1.71%
3. 1152x864 24 2.42%
4. 1024x768 216 21.75%
5. 800x600 543 54.68%
6. 640x480 73 7.35%

The demographics of the two sites are very different.. Dynamoo is a technical/professional site so users have bigger monitors I guess. And 7.35% of CreepyGuy users can't even see the site properly as it's designed for 800x600.
