    Cool
    BMW made a big mistake.
They should have had adsense on those pages.

The traffic google has sent my websites has effectively paid for my home, my cars and my childrens private schools. So the answer to that is... yes.

PS : If google ban my websites, can I be your sidekick

PPS : Back on topic, why should google list a website/company, no matter how big, if they are contravening googles terms. BMW, who I used to work for, screwed up big time, now they have to pay for that mistake. If this were a smaller website, with a high listing for a popular search term you would be emailing google.

It was just dumb on their part, I don't get it. It's not a site that needs SEO, most people would directly type it in. Also those types of sites are naturally #1 without having to do anything. Just type in any automobile and their company site usually comes up #1.

Will be interesting to see how long the ban applies.

Its great to see that Google treats a multi billion dollar company the same way they treat a 2 penny affiliate, no favoritism, cheat and you are banned.

I can see the seo company previous to the ban - sure we are worth the money, look we got you #1 for bmw!

I imagine they felt they had to show they did something for their fee.

I wonder if there is any legal recourse for a company that hires an seo firm , doesn't know they're using blackhat or anything about the process and their site gets banned eventually becuase of the practices of the SEO firm.

    Just thinking outloud...

I am VERY happy to see that Google treats even the major corps the same as any other website owner ... you cheat & you pay dearly!

    I agree..

If the SEO firm cheated shame on BMW> if they can't take the time to know enough about who their hiring.. and how they work.. than they should be penalized.

And if they did know the firm was using blackhat than Double shame..

So my Love/Hate relationship with Google continues

What'd make a nice topper, is if BMW.de realized that people can find a site like that without G, and decides not to bother to submit a reinclusion request

    Hard to argue that point.

I supposed if you Nail a big fish, it does ripple a message through internet-land.

The math probably dictates that if bust out a big player like BMW, you can spend less policing all the others who may also be tempted to do the same.

Sort of like a high profile Microsoft bust of illegal software, no?
