Questions about the new feature that allows you to link to certain pages.
    Hi All,

Just was looking at the new feature that allows you to link to certain pages; thanks ShareAsale... Anyways, I was wondering what the "Afftrack" or something like that is for?... Is that just where I enter in what the link is to, kind of like a title tag?... Like for example I have a link going to laptops would I just write laptops (or anything else) in there for my personal knowlege/tracking?

Thanks for the Help, and Love You,
    HumbleFish

Tool is cool. Love it. Linking to exactly what peeps are looking for and expecting means higher conversions and lower advertising costs, not to mention people think better of your site (honesty coveyed, better text descriptions of what/where they're going with a click are possible and fewer clicks to get there!).

afftrack stands for affiliate tracking (and is nothing to do with the company called AffTrack, just a coincidence there). It allows you to append alphanumeric code for you to later see the source of traffic and sales. So let's say you had the same banner on two different rotating versions of a webpage - the banner id and what not remain the same - so you later could not tell which sales and clicks (within the SAS tracking stats) came from which... but add afftrack=page1 to the link and you'll have accountability later. It's called subID tracking most places, and at SAS as well. See their help files - got good info there about avoiding weird characters, structuring it in your links and more (of course tool makes it all easy).

Hi Donuts, and thanks for the explanation... I was looking through the help files but didn't see it... I guess I'll have to get back over there and find it... See you later.

Linking to the SAS help files is a hassle - sessions, logins, etc - or I'd shoot you a link to the help page for afftrack...

(Brain, move help files to public area?)

Log into ShareASale, click on help (upper left), on the left scroll down a hair and look for "Links". The first topic there, called "Affiliate/SubID Tracking - Using Affiliate Defined Tracking" covers it.

Thanks Donuts, I'll get over there and check that out (I was so close, if it had been a snake it would have bit me)... Also, sorry it took so long getting back to you; I was actually doing some work for a change.

    Thanks again, and Love You,
