We just removed ShopAtHomeSelect from our program!
In effort to be parasite free, we removed SAHS from our program today. It wasn't a hard decision but it did cost us money. They were our number 4 affiliate.

If anyone knows of any other parasites in our program, I would be happy to hear about it. I'm still new, so I'm still learning what it takes to roundup these varmits. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Do I get a white hat or something?

Thanks for this pro-affiliate move. Now monitor the real sales level driven by legit affiliates and deduct the huge payouts you donated to SAHS and let us know the good news!

Good riddance Rick! You didn't actually lose any money. The sales coming from this parasite would have going to be your sales anyways.

    cheers!

Nish already said something similar, but...

If you think it cost you money, you don't understand parasites as well as you think you do. Most of the sales they "sent" your way were already yours.

Watch for your affiliate, PPC, natural search, and type-in traffic to perform even better now!

    Good job Rick!

Michael, I don't understand parasites well at all. I do appreciate any help and suggestions. Thanks for the positive comments.

    Hi Rick,

Nish and the others are right Shop At Home Select was only providing very muddy traffic and stealing sales from affiliates who can drive real traffic. They were one of the affiliates we dumped in Q4 last year and our average conversion rate has jumped nearly 5%.

    Good job Rick!

Short Descrip of Parasytes: They don't send you new traffic (as in they're your #4 affiliate) - they send you traffic that was already heading your way (either via search engine or another affiliate) - and insert their cookie so they get credit for the sale

Strong move. Remember: Parasites increase the cost of acquisition in what will prove to be your most cost-effective marketing channel. You lost nothing in sales, and gained more in respect from people who have quality traffic to drive to you, as stated above. It just can't be stated enough.

    Good Job Rick

One other thing that you will see is more super affiliates will come back to your program because its clean. So not only will you get the traffic that you would have gotten anyway you will also pick up some people that know what they are doing.

First thing I did when I was looking at your program was put "gigagolf+shopathomeselect" into google. That was enough for me NOT to join. I am sure there are others that do this too.
Good luck with your clean up you are on the right track

If SAHS was #4, you probably have at least three more parasites.

Watch for them trying to get back in. I kicked them out a second time (from another program) and posted about it. They called me asking who tried to get back in. When I went to find the denied application there was no sign of the affiliate account on record. They were syrupy sweet to me on the phone. They monitor this post too!

    Great Move!!!

Just adding more support for your decision.
Keep looking for trash in your program, kick em' out and keep them out.
Your program will perform better for it
