    Talking Privacy fears hit Google search

    We think this will be a very useful tool, but you will have to give up some of your privacy

    open teh back door and give it up for the G-man!

    I don't really care about stuff like them knowing what I search for. But I always thought the desktop search thing was letting G get *too* close to my personal info. I had DS for a couple of weeks when it first came out, but I dumped it after considering the possibility that G could see too much that way. Hopefully it's really dumped

    It's jarring enough as it is, that when I preview my sales pages on my desktop, the AdSense shows ads that are related (rather than the generic charity ones)--but not related to those sites. The preview always shows adsense that are exactly related to a different site of mine that's on a totally different subject

    "Unless you configure Google Desktop very carefully, and few people will, Google will have copies of your tax returns, love letters, business records, financial and medical files, and whatever other text-based documents the desktop software can index.
    Wow. Some of your privacy. Indeed.

    I won't use desktop search from any company. No one needs to know what is on my hard drive and I will find what I am looking for eventually
