    Checking backlinks disabled?
Checking backlinks has disappeared from the Google toolbar and link: seems to be giving the same results as allinurl: and isn't allowing me to filter out the domain itself. I am trying to find inbound links to a specific site... am I doing something wrong or did they change something?

Deb, if I remember the timing correctly, it was about a year or so ago that Google stopped showing all backlinks. Instead, they just show a small random sampling.

You can use MSN or Yahoo Search for more complete info on backlinks, including filtering out the same domain as an option. If those know about links, Google will also - they're just not showing them.

    For Yahoo:

    link:http://www.example.com or
    link:http://www.example.com/anypage.htm

Those will show links to any individual page. The http part has to be included, and no space after link:

    linkdomain:example.com

That shows all links to all pages, including subdomains.

Ditto to what webworker said. Yahoo is your best bet for determining the number of backlinks to a page or a site.

Google just shows a random sampling with no known criteria for which ones they select. It used to be based upon PageRank, but is not any longer. Google hasn't shown all backlinks for several years.
There's good, fast and cheap. Pick any two.

Thanks, will go to yahoo and look. For this purpose I don't need number, I need to see the inbound links.
