    Network or In-House?
I suspect this may be a passionate poll. I have seen the past questions and comments regarding all the various networks and know that everyone has an opinion on this subject. The purpose of this poll is to simply determine if you prefer working with merchants on networks or indie programs.

Your opinions/comments to your voting inclinations are always appreciated!!!

    Additional Information (5:27 pm EST)
The goal of this poll is to get the perspective/desire of the affiliate.

If the merchant has good in-house reporting, pays more than they would through a network, and pays quickly, I love in-house programs.

It'd say depends on the network.

It is quite an effort to create such an affiliate program. If you can commit yourself to the cause, it is good to go in-house.

I like inhouse almost in all cases. But again, it depends on the program You may want to clarify the poll question, because until I read your post further I couldn't tell if you were asking from an managing standpoint of from an affiliate standpoint....

I've some great in-house merchants, but the only serious con I've ever had was from an in-house merchant.

In-house stats suck too, so overall I went for network. Overall network merchants earn me the most.

Thanks for the recommendation. Clarification made above that we are interested in the affiliates perspective.

Our program is currently on the old bFast platform that we are getting kicked off of and we are mulling over our next steps. We have found that with most networks (as with any ASP) we can get most but not everything we want. Also we tend to be limited in our customizations for our best affiliates. We are truly "up in the air" atm.

I see your point about the con but from everything I read at ABW, it doesn't sound like any of the networks really ever help you out when a merchant con occurs.

I wonder if it would help affiliate confidence if an in-house program had their results "certified" by an outside auditor? (perhaps we have a new "role" for Haiko's Trusted Merchants Seal)

It is an interesting idea & worth exploring further. On a side note, in a way ABW itself acts like an auditor. If there is anything wrong with your system, be assured that the bad news will spill at ABW sooner or later.

Overall, if the network is clean and trustworthy, I'd rather have a network tracking. In house (as already mentioned above) programs have sucky (if any) reporting to watch and analyze which, to me, is vital.

Rexanne, you might want to take a closer look at MontRED's reporting

Now that could be worth something. I've been very wary ever since of in-house merchants.

Amazon was given as an example of an in-house merchant; are you wary of Amazon?

The problem with representing Amazon as an in-house is that Amazon is huge and has become a familiar symbol for book selling.

I usually think of smaller merchants when I think of "in-house" but it's something to discuss & debate...

I dont think this is a fair poll, Putting SAS with the rest of those networks does SAS no justice. I myself would join a SAS program before an indy 99% of the time.

What is so great about SAS? (Here is comes). Is it the tracking, the linking, the reporting? Help me understand.
