    Favorite Sitemap Tools
Since Google came out with it's sitemap idea last June I've tried several tools to create them. My current favorite is the GSiteCrawler. It took about 9 hours to crawl a 52,000 product data feed site. This may be fast since I've nothing to compare against.

The developer is set up at Google Groups and really supports his works, but being greedy does anyone have something better?

Excellent thinking, bumpaw -- you are on the ball

In terms of alternates, are you thinking of something along the lines of an
XML Sitemap Generator for Google Sitemaps ?

Search Engine Watch has a good summary/intro:

I'll keep looking for new developments.

I'm looking at this one just now. http://www.softswot.com/sitemapinfo.php
It only has settings to crawl up to 5000 pages so that would need adjusting. Also has settings for what to include, what to exclude and how to handle different update times and page importance.

It does take some time to crawl but I'm thinking I may try running it on one server to crawl another to see if this improves the time. I was impressed because it's the first one I found that actually crawls the pages instead of parsing the servers directories. I tried a couple like this but of course they don't work with modrewrite pages.
