Which products sold?
How does an affiliate know exactly which products sold?

Lately there have been many threads groaning about Linkshare, but to its credit Linkshare has always been great at reporting to an affiliate exactly what sold.

With CJ I can tell which of my sites sold the product for which company but I can't tell exactly what product sold?

So how do people figure this out?

During one of these improvement updates the networks are famous for, this feature was wiped out. It started with CJ6. The actual version is CJ7.0.2304.
Nethertheless, we have several ways to know what was sold.
You can add &sid=whatever. You know what your visitor clicked, you have to guess what he bought.
The new CJ7 have new possibilities, some of the merchants are using advanced sales. If you look in the Action Detail of your transaction.
You'll see:
Item Based Action History
SKU Amount Quantity Posting Date
100778 $16.95 USD 1 20-Feb-2006

You have the SKU of the item you sold, you can check in your datafeed for the description, ref...

Anyway, I'm still missing the old CJ, before CJ6...

Heavily doctored/edited CJ link for DEMO

Well, to begin with, I won't have datafeed because CJ charges an initiation fee (whatever you want to call the fee) of $200 and I won't/can't pay that at this time (no debates on how the $200 is worth it please )

I get my direct product links through the search function of CJ.

But here is a CJ link to Shoebuy that has been heavily edited so it is only good for a DEMO here.

< has been changed to [ for demo purposes

This is not my real link (anymore):

[a href="http://www.edit4compliance.com/click-123456-1233335?url=http%111A%112F%113Zwww.shoebuy.com%11Fsb%11Fs.jsp%11FStyle%1D123411%11Substyle%1D111114&cjsku=202514" target="_top" ]
Merrell Reactor Sandal Junior - Blue/Red (Infants')[/a]

Where would you add &sid=whatever?

Would you put &sid="whatever"? Whatever in quotation marks or leave quotation marks off?

Would you add &sid=whatever before or after target="_top" ?

Which one of the following is correct?

[a href="http://www.edit4compliance.com/click-123456-1233335?url=http%111A%112F%113Zwww.shoebuy.com%11Fsb%11Fs.jsp%11FStyle%1D123411%11Substyle%1D111114&cjsku=202514"&sid=kidshoe target="_top" ]
Merrell Reactor Sandal Junior - Blue/Red (Infants')

or

[a href="http://www.edit4compliance.com/click-123456-1233335?url=http%111A%112F%113Zwww.shoebuy.com%11Fsb%11Fs.jsp%11FStyle%1D123411%11Substyle%1D111114&cjsku=202514" target="_top" &sid=kidshoe]
Merrell Reactor Sandal Junior - Blue/Red (Infants')[/a]

Thanks for your help

This one is correct:
[a href="http://www.edit4compliance.com/click-123456-1233335?url=http%111A%112F%113Zwww.shoebuy.com%11F sb%11Fs.jsp%11FStyle%1D123411%11Substyle%1D111114&sid=kidshoe&cjsku=202514" target="_top" ]

In this case you have the advanced sale tracking with the &cjsku=202514, so to add sid is redundant but nothing prevent you to do it.

Don't feel bad to don't have access to datafeeds, you can still make money building links once at a time. If you're just starting, it's even better to have top ranking in the SEs. To add too many pages at once to a new website is not something to do.

No quotation marks

Would you add &sid=whatever before or after target="_top" ?
target="_top" is not in your link, it's outside, &sid=whatever should be at the end of your CJ link or before the cjsku=202514 for advanced sale tracking
It could be also http://www.edit4compliance.com/click...5&sid=whatever if you don't have to redirect to a different url

That's the one thing I like about LS, that i can put a simple text link to a merchant's home page (or any link to any page), somebody buys something and I can see what they bought. Amazon the same.

Thanks

---11Substyle%1D111114&sid=kidshoe&cjsku=202514"

so it would be after the url and before the sku without quotations and before target="_top"

I've been online for many years & I've been an affiliate for many years, but I didn't have a concentrated commercial focus -- also, many of my earlier pages need to be totally redone as they collapse under the newer browsers (they don't look right at all -- they were built in "1998 style" ).

I make some money with my pages but not enough to justify a $200 fee be it one time or recurring -- No fee

I also have read threads that cautions those on dial-up: I am on dial-up and will remain so.

My choice at the moment is not between dial-up and broadband/cable
my choice is between dial-up or nothing-at-all

Thank you for your help.
