WebMerge Videos - Good or bad idea?
I have started putting together some videos for WebMerge users. Most will be geared toward the beginner, but I can generate some that are more complicated. I am also toying with the idea of videos showing how to do interesting search and replaces in M$ Excel.

I want to offer some of these (when and if they are ready) to users for free, but will need, at some point, to charge for the more complicated ones (I have to pay for my divorce somehow )

I haven't settled on the best format for the videos, but am toying with Flash. Any suggestions for a good video authoring app?

Is this a crazy idea, and would it be bad form to ask for payment for the more comprehensive videos?

    Hi
im new to the board & love webmerge - still not got my head around it 100% but getting there - i would be intrested in seeing some tutorial videos

why not try Camtasia Studio to build a tutorial video

they have a 30 day trial and it seems to be pretty easy to use

    Fred,
I learned the basics of Webmerge using your tutorial. Thanks for putting it out there. I think videos are a great idea. If you are simply capturing monitor output, use Windows Media Encoder.

Thanks for the input (and compliments!) - most appreciated. I am going to look at these other technologies today.

The 30-day trial will help a lot. If anyone has any other recommendations, just let me know.

    I'll keep everyone posted.

Videos would be fantastic! When you watch instead of just read you can learn so much more.

I always have more interest in learning through Camtasia Studio then just by words. Even if the person creating the videos is not polished you can still hear inflections in the voice, which make you (at least me) remember better and understand concepts more easily.

They were moving slowly, but since you're asking, I'll put them back on the front burner

I'd be interested in video too. Especially to explain the "If" tag and a few other things I'd like to learn.
