    LinkShare Canceling Affiliates?
    I just got an email from LinkShare saying it cancelled several affiliates for "invalid activity". Could it be they are finally putting their foot down.

    Didn't see SAHS on the list though.

    "several" = "most blatant"?

    Although they don't publicize it, they've removed thousands of affiliates for fraud.

    Of course they continue to work with (and heavily promote) some of the biggest parasites in the industry, as long as the parasites play by "the rules". Drive-by installs? No problem. Bundling with other software and no clear disclosure? No problem. No easy uninstall? No problem. Stealing from merchants (natural search, PPC, type-in, etc.)? No problem. Stealing from affiliates after the initial click? No problem. It seems the only "rule" they care about is stealing from affiliates on the initial click.

    To me, this is a half-hearted policy. Affiliates still get stolen from. Merchants still get stolen from. Either you're going to work with parasites or not. Their current policy is about as effective at stopping parasites as CAN-SPAM is at stopping spam. It legitimizes some and outlaws some, but the net effect is minimal.

    I agree! Very well said Michael and exactly why we chose to leave their network. If they can't make an iron clad stand for their hard working affiliates sending sales, then there's not much left to consider is there?

    Isn't it time for John J-H Kim, CEO of Rakuten USA and Steven R. Denton, President of LinkShare to tell us what's their new strategy or is it the same one iniated by the Messers and outlined so well by Michael? HELPING CROOKS TO STEAL the merchants and affiliates.

    Don't they feel the anger growing everyday? Are they covering these criminal activities, or not?

    I have no idea, but I suspect most of them were probably buying traffic from parasites that don't follow the one rule, or were using parasitic traffic without having their software application approved.

    But how can Linkshare tell?
    I guess it's hard for Linkshare to tell.

    it can be hard to tell Linkshare . . . but they have been known to react well
    --sometimes-- when given the proper proof.

    unfortunately for us, one of the biggest causes for complaint, who have been booted from another major network for good reason, are still with LS.
