OBITUARY NOTICE: Sub Id, Age Unknown, Died on Feb. 23, 2006
    OBITUARY NOTICE:

Sub Id, a long time employee of the LinkShare Corporation, died in his sleep last night. Initial reports of a suicide are unfounded. Many think the death was from suspicious causes as Sub Id was young and healthy with no known illnesses or diseases. An investigation in to the cause of death has not yet been announced.

Sub Id was a tireless worker and will be much loved by those who worked with him every day. Sub Id was known around the world as a keeper of information and would share this information freely, day or night, to those he worked with him. A person who worked close to Sub Id, who has asked to remain anonymous, was interviewed and basically said they still can't believe he is gone and can't understand why he left us when he still had so much potential.

LinksShare Corporation has announced that another employee of LinkShare, a fellow going only by the code name of “Signature” will be attempting to fill Sub Id’s shoes in the future. A background check of Signature was unavailable, but word on the streets has it that Signature is not as friendly or easy to access as our beloved Sub Id and that most will find it difficult if not impossible to make the necessary adjustments.

While the world mourns this great loss, there are already rumors spreading that Sub Id still lives. Affiliates (those who will miss him most) are reporting they still see his him when they create web site links at LinkShare Corporation. Many are confused by this, but the administrators at LinkShare Corporation have assured us that these are indeed just “ghosts in the machine” and that Sub Id did indeed pass away last night.

Memorials and gifts can be sent to the Help Save Linkshare Foundation here at ABW.

It'll come back and haunt LS. He's waiting on his buddies Old Reports and Old Links. Wait till they all get together.

Just noticed my apended User Title....well, actually that used to be my old User Title. Maybe we really should start our own Help Save Linkshrare Foundation as they certainly make it look like they need help when it comes to affilaite tools and reports.

Thanks to Haiko or a moderator for remembering. Like I've always said, LS could be a great network if they treated affiliates better. I'm not suggestion they put our needs first but if they could at the very least put us on somewhat equal footing with that of the merchant and that of the network, asking for your needs and listenting to our suggestions, they could indeed be one of the top networks in my eyes.

Look at the people they are hiring and you wonder why these idiots can't even report the most basic piece of information needed in affiliate marketing.
I've never seen them looking for technical specialists. They don't even understand what they are subcontracting like SynergyAnalytics.

I, Too, Have Seen The GHOST of Sub Id!
Oh My!!! I can't believe it!

I was just visiting the Create Links area of Linkshare and, it's almost too good to be true, I spotted Sub Id in a link I was creating. Actually he is in every link I created. More specifically, he was even seen twice in some links I was creating (example: &type=3&subid=9" >).

Is it a ghost, perhaps just a earthly image of a past presence? I don't know but it sure looked real to me.

Maybe the reports of Sub Id's death was premature. I know last month there was talk of his death but somehow he escaped the clutches of the Grim Reaper back then. Maybe, just maybe, he managed to slip through again.

Quick, let's all light a candle or make sacrifices to the Goddess Athena (she took up residence at LS, didn't she?). Zues, Zues, use your mighty powers and maybe we can bring Sub Id back to life!!! Think of the possibilities!

Sub Id has been seen again!

I joined a new merchant at LS (first one in months) basically because I found a group of site visitors that had a need for these products and guess what I found in the welcome email the sent me??? Yep, links with SubID=0 in all of them.

Someone forgot to tell the merchants that Sub Id had passed away!

Well, Sub Id must have nine lives because he is still on all new links created at LS.

And, even though LS terminated him on Feb. 23, I can still pull up reports (not the ones in SA) and see how each of my sites are doing based on the Sub ID code I have for them.

Could someone from LS please explain?

    7-Days,

I was just about to reply that even though you are seeing the Sub-ID's, you won't be able to get your reporting that includes it. Then, I saw your last post that says that you can pull reporting.

Where are you getting your reports outside of SA? I don't know how to do this and would love to still be able to see my sub-ids.

    Thanks,

Maybe they're still including SubId in case they might have to exhume him.

    >>I can still pull up reports (not the ones in SA) and see how each of my sites are doing based on the Sub ID code I have for them.

I can't. How are you doing it?

Today, it's gone. You can't create anymore links with SubID.
BUT NOT ONE WORD on their website.
These idiots are faster to use the delete button than to create meaningful reports.

What have they done lately to help their affiliates?

    Zeus,

I beg to differ with you. I just went in and tried to create a text link for Sierra Trading Post and the SubID still shows up in the link (as subid=0). Yeah, it is not a number I assigned, but it is still automatically being generated by LinkShare and I can change the SubID to a number I want and it is still tracking. Amazing I have posted this a half dozen times here with no LS response (if anyone has not noticed, the LS Moderators are ignoring ALL my posts and have been for weeks now...except Danix who responded to a nontechnical post I made).

Sheri - Where I am pulling up this data is on the page right after you log on I go to Run Reports, then for the current month I select under Report Type the Individual Item Report for All Merchants. This then gives me a breakdown of all sales this month by item purchased and because of the SubID's still listed on all my links I can tell which site the sale came from.

Evidently SubID is still alive and well. Long live Sub ID!

    Ron,

You are lucky. SubID is no longer available (and hasn't been for a while) on my individual item reports.

I just tried running individual items for reports going back to 1/1/2006 when subID was supported. I am not able to run subID reports for that period either. I hadn't thought about it before, but I am distressed that I seem to have lost 4 years of historicial information about my sites that used to be available. If I had been forewarned I might have downloaded the information before subID was murdered.

Evidently SubID=0 is still alive and well.

Ron, they removed YESTERDAY, our ability to assign a website to the SubID and we can't list our websites anymore. No more SubID=1, 2 or 45

Yes, the SubID=0 is still generated for ALL the links but have no use anymore. What else can we expect from these idiots.

To keep SubID=0 without the reporting is dumb and a waste of space.

    Zues,

But the interesting thing is I can still use all my various SubId numbers on my sites with datafeeds to generate reports and see stuff still reporting up until my last sales post. Interesting how I can and others cannot.

I can't generate reports sorted by SubID.
I'm not crazy about their signature system. I'm not happy.
LinkShare is not getter better, different people in charge, same problems.

As I understand it, the SubId can be formed with either alphabetical or numeric elements. 7-Days, did you only assign numbers to your SubID? I guess you wrote down the numbers in a notebook so you'll remember what they stand for at a later date?

You're thinking of Signature/Member ID/u1 tracking. SubID (the old tracking they "eliminated") is only numeric and must be pre-configured.
