Breeze,

Cute! I like it! You should also offer them a CJ sign up link.

Do you also provide the mailing portion of it? If not then your losing some good revenues there (can offer it as an option)

breeze,
re: The 3 money making checkboxes on the sign-up form.
Are they easily changeable as merchants come and go or are they hard coded by yourself?
Is the landing page easily changed also.

I guess what I'm saying is can the user of the script muck about with it as long as your 4th check box remains in place.

Can you add a name field as well as the e-mail address?

If yes and yes. I'm interested.

Would it be allowed by you for the list sign-up to be syndicated to other sites.
i.e. can it be offered to another site to use for mailing list sign up but with say, box 3 coded to Trivio and box 4 coded to you?

If the answer is no to the later, I'm still interested.

I need some serious VCs to cough up some serious $$ if I am gonna handle that end of it Haiko. I will more likely just become an affiliate for PMG. (The only mailing end I handle is the checkbox mailings.)

I have been using this script myself for over nine months and have decided to take it to the next level.

Guffy, It would be easy enough to add a name as well as an email. The checkboxes will have to be somewhat steadfast. (In otherwords it is quite a pain to change them all the time)

1) First the form needs editing
2) The perl script which prints the emails gets edited
3) The redirect pages which hide the ugly affiliate links get edited.

The easy thing to change would be the landing page.

The part where you want to keep the 3rd box and give out 1 & 2 is a bit scary. Only because of the possibility of abuse.

(This whole thing really has a bunch of issues that need to be ironed out)

If you want to try it out we can get it running tonight! I think the best way to do it is just to do it!

Why don't you get links together for your first 3 boxes and your landing page.

You can create your landing pages in your space as follows:

create a folder named /check/

Inside of it will be pages named

1.htm
2.htm
3.htm

Then for each email you can have the script print a few SHORT lines and then we put the link, i.e.:
http://yoursite.com/check/1.htm

etc...

Do you need the refresh html?

if so it's here:
http://webchasm.com/free/sample.htm

Then you will need to open a free account at
postmaste rgeneral

If you want to use the members name you will have to open a PRO TRIAL ACCOUNT.

This is more than twice as expensive when it's time to start paying.

Let me know what your user name is when you signup.

That is all I will need to deliver the addresses to your account wth my script.

My script will also report the IP address of your subscriber to postmastergeneral. (This is used to defend against faulty spam complaints)

Thanks.
I'll get started with this sometime over the weekend.

>>The part where you want to keep the 3rd box and give out 1 & 2 is a bit scary.

Agreed, I was thinking out loud again!

I'll send a PM to you when I'm sorted.

Breeze,
I guess we have vaguely similar site themes.
In your experience, if you don’t mind divulging the info.

What have you found to be the best merchants to promote in terms of conversion rate?

Personally I find electronic greeting cards and free lotto type merchants convert best at Trivio.
Does your experience differ?

Guffy, I do the best with Sweeps, Singles, & Various click programs.

Singles is my #1 income.

I just really try the sale check boxes because it is easiest to sell when they say they want the product. I bombard my newsletter with sweeps when they are signed up. bombard'em yeah cool hee hee

Is there some way we can do this without using postmaster general?
I can't afford those monthly fees just yet and the free option is only for 30 recipients which is not really worth the effort.

Guffy, My script is writen around postmastergeneral's platform. I could alter it but this would be difficult to get the desired results.

Here is the thing!

You can build your PMG list as big as you want to before paying! It says 30 recipients (which only applys to mailing) I am currently building 4 lists there, the only one I mail has 30,000 daily recipients.

The other 3 are just growing, at no charge.

The great thing is that you have complete control of your adresses even while just building your list so you could always just take the list with you without ever paying them!

Plus every initial subscriber will also get an auto-welcome message from you as well as the checkbox capability.

Let me know.

The real problem with postmaster general.

We run a free email service with over 50,000 users. We block PMG. Everyone who has ever mentioned them on any mail admin list I am on has talked of blocking them, I know 10 other admins who block them. On one list when someone asked if anyone doesn't block them, the answer was no. (That list reaches 20,000+ email admins.)

They have no real working global remove, they do not honor removes. And they do nothing to control rogue affiliates. I had one of their big people email me a personal email promising I would never get another email from them, he was pleading that we do not block them. 1 week later, more spam from PMG. We blocked them, I have no idea if he ever tried to email me again.

Do they show you bounces for blocked servers? If not... I just wonder. I smell a desperate sinking ship.

Cheznoir, Nothing personal but these things you say are nonsense. It doesn't really matter if 100's of tiny domains are blocked. My membership is 80% (hotmail, msn & yahoo) AOL is #4 and comprises 9% of my members.

Now I will agree that if PMG is banned by any of those big 4 there will be a big problem. Don't get me wrong, I don't appreciate it that I can't reach everyone, it's just there is one small problem with the alternative.

If you go somewhere else to have your list hosted by a company such as "constant contact" it costs nearly 3 times as much for the same size list. They are the "next best thing"

And the REAL PROBLEM is this:

Nobody in their right mind, who wants to run a profitable business, could possibly afford that.

How could anyone love being held prisoner?

hmmm... very interesting.

I have a good deal on some windows 2000 servers and storage units! Check this out, they cost about 4 times what Sun servers do per megabyte but I will only charge you 80% of that! This way you can tell everyone you got a good deal and saved a bundle on the "reg. price"
