I've used them a little bit.

The 2 things I like about them is that the stats are updated instantly and you don't have to have their counter showing on your page.

I suppose a 3rd good point is that it is pretty easy to set up their code and insert it into your page.

I use it too, the freebie version. It does keep a running total of your visitors/page views etc, but the complete visitor stats are restricted to the last 100. But there's nothing to stop you running more than one campaign for the same site to track various areas of a site. There are graded upgrades at a price where more and more visitors details are kept. It does work live though and give a quick indication of what happening on your site.

infact, if you do a quick view source of this page you might see some statcounter code, and if it's good enough for Haiko.

    Cool
especially useful if you want to keep a count on a site where the pages are being generated by a program like WebMerge. You put the code for the counter on the template and forget it.

also, you can use it in an "include"

I use statcounter on at least 10 sites of mine. Several years ago I researched all the counters and statcounter was the only one that had an invisible free counter.

The most interesting feature to me is Visit Length.

I found that over 80% of visitors were staying for less than 5 seconds.

So I got working on that, and could see the results immediately.
