March 1st, 2006, 08:46 AM #1The Spring is Here!!
It's the 1st of MARCH!! The Spring is here!
It is still freezing in NW Russia (as I hear it is in most of Canada), but I can smell the Spring in the air!! Can't you?!
CONGRATULATIONS everyone!! The celebrations of the coming of Spring is a big thing in Moldova where I was born (grapes stand for the great wine they make there). I'm sure each country has some celebration tied to it...

Well, despite the fact that it's insanely cold here, probably in the coldest snap this whole winter, and we usually have snowstorms well into April, I can still say... YAY! It's SPRING! Even though Spring doesn't oficially start until March 21st! As long as I can see the end... my hopes are high.[LEFT][FONT=Verdana]Sarah-Jane

Here in Southern California I hear birds chirping, my avocado trees and my orange tree are blossoming, and the dogs are lying in the sunshine.

"I have the doors and windows open to let in the fresh air."
In Torrance you can probably do that in December

I can't smell any (in fact, freezing drizzle is predicted), but some people in the South can!

Egads, it's 16F here, with the windchill, well, let's just say I'm freezing my ti**ies off! Sorry, until I see the green of the grass growing and buds in the trees, I'm gonna stay grumpy :-(
Geno, where's that VODKA? I'm gonna need it if it keeps as cold as it has been here!!!

It's been cold here in Ottawa for the past couple of weeks... which is nice because all winter it has been very mild and wet. For those of you who don't know, Ottawa is home to the World's longest skating rink, the Rideau Canel, and until the last two weeks it has only been open on the odd day.
But I cannot wait until spring... warm weather will be nice but I can't wait for the salt trucks to get put away for the summer. Ottawa uses so much salt on the roads and my car is paying for it.Ryan MacWha

When I lived up in Massachusetts we used to begin looking for Spring when the Masters was on and we could break out the golf clubs. Then there'd be the first robin and we'd know it was finally here.
Down here in Florida it's always nice but you appreciate it when the flowers start blooming again in March. But you really know it's spring when the first lizards come out. Ahh..the first lizard of spring!
