March 6th, 2006, 03:42 PM #1Boy, they certainly are out in force recently
That is, folks seeking a link exchange and affiliate recruiters from networks I've never heard of.
The former always slay me when the subject is something like "I want to link to phillyBurbs.com from my [fill in the subject] Web site!" Gee, by all means, go ahead. No need to ask permission for that.
Received an e-mail from the latter group today. Classic stuff. It was sent via the feedback function of the site. Written entirely in lower case.
For your amusement, here's the entire text of the e-mail (the guy's name & phone number are in the header) ...
"check out www.[NetworkI'veNeverHeadOf].com id like to get some of my banners on your site"
Wow. Who can resist that sales pitch?

The ones that piss me off are those that say something like "please link to me and let me know so I can put in a return link" - duh!

I get a few too, I guess not too many. I don't link back to most but there are a few I do link back to. If its just someone who is just starting and is related to my site I'll link to them. They are trying and its an honest request. I'll also link to a site whose link page is a page that the webmaster expect people to look through. Other than that I probably won't link back. Sometimes I do email back with no thank you for the iffy ones.

I must get 10 or more a day. Honestly, I don't even open them; it's just not a good use of time.
