Smile Idea for those with PHPBB or other forums.
I have a few phpbb forums which get spammed almost daily. I have started a censor list in the admin panel which will change the spam words to a link to a page. The page contains a list of all the spamming IP and destination domains.

This way if that spammer wants to see what they have just posted they see a link to the list to which they will be added.

Now here is the idea part. Is it possible for all phpbb forum sites to point to a list op IPs or domain to deny access. This could replace individuals having to add IP addresses manually to thier database. I'd be willing to do the foot work to get this one going. The internet & e-mail are great things but spammers are really screwing them if you know what I mean.

A step furthere is to have cPanel look at the list and deny access to the site. That would be good for CC fraud.

    Thoughts....

One more thing...where can I report spammers.

    Thanks,
    Doug

Have you tried visual confirmation for signup? That seriously cut down the issue for me.

Is that the same as having the Admin OK the signup?

Yeah, the newer versions of phpBB have visual signup confirmation. I think this with email validation and registration required for posting should be enough. It might also help to get a few of your active posters to help moderate the forum for you. I do that and they do a wonderful job of deleting spam and alerting me of it.

I decided to just regulate them instead. It's really a hassle when they train their DOS attack dogs on you. So far so good.

Yeah, that's why I don't ban people. I have friends who have been DDOS attacked and lost control of their site for several days due to forum grudges. It's definitely a place where you want to tread lightly unless you have the resources to combat a DDOS attack. I make sure everybody is treated well and delete any posts that might cause friction among my users. It's done me well so far.

Why not do a DOS on their IP and Domain(s)?

Is there a way to config phpBB to not allow users to post links until their 10th post??
