    Question Has anyone tried Trexy?
    http://trexy.com/technology.html

Should one jump on the social searching bandwagon with http://trexy.com/ ?

Trexy works with other search engines and enables you to keep a track of your own trails and it is possible to follow other trailblazers too.

Now the real question is will Trexy take off or will it be a dud?

    http://trexy.com/

Will Trexy ever be as popular as del.icio.us? Trexy and del.icio.us are different formats but they both share the interest in what's popular with other users.

The problem with Trexy is that one has to download a "Trailbar" in order to use the search functions. Are people downloading search bars in general?

I've just put on the stumbleupon toolbar to try out after I noticed getting traffic coming from there. Hopefuly all of the current social networks will evolve and develop into something worth while, or others will emerge but in different genres, styles or flavours. At the moment much of them seems to be taken up with that phenomena when a group of people first get online and get email and everyone's passing round the video of some dancing monkey or other, what ever the most recent buzz is.

I noticed this site yesterday http://swicki.eurekster.com/ who are offering webmasters a hosted beta version of their own type of social networking tool called a Swicki. Might take that for spin.

    Hi Rhia7,

Megan from Trexy here, thanks for mentioning us in your post.

In answer to your question: "are people downloading searchbars in general?" - so far so good. We've had a good number of downloads from people all over the world.

In any event you don't need to download the TrailBar to blaze search trails, you can use the 'Blaze Search Trail' tab in the Trexy.com results. You can take a look at it here: http://trexy.com/newtrail.txy. This acts as a springboard to start blazing trails on search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and A9.

Also you can use Trexy without having to blaze search trails. You can use Trexy's 'All Trails' feature to follow in the footsteps of other searchers and see what other searchers have found. This will become more beneficial as more people blaze search trails. You can access the "All Trails" results by searching on Trexy.com.

    Hi,

I won't use it as long as it is not as popular as msn, yahoo or google.

There are far too many engines, and now the Social bookmarking sites. I won't download any toolbars! de.icio.us is a SB site which is not like that one!

"In our tests, we found downloads on this site that some people consider adware, spyware, or other unwanted programs."
