    Buddy Browser
Was checking out the new merchants for March and came across Buddy Browser. On their site, ( http://www.buddybrowser.com/ ) it says all the right things, safe, adware/sypware free. Not sure if this is the same Buddy Browser coming up on Google searches. Maybe someone knows something more.

    "Vendor
Its author is eXact Advertising, who deliver online and e-mail ads and “enable marketers to build valuable relationships with consumers and businesses,” according to their website. "

Exact Advertising and Buddy Browser also use Domains By Proxy, don't know if coincidence or not.

That's some nasty stuff, and luring people in to promote them under a cloak of respectability. This is the kind of stuff that gives the industry and all affiliates a bad name.

I haven't heard of Buddy Browser before now, but:

I know that eXact Advertising = rot! They've put out lots of parasiteware in the past, so I'd be very surprised if this wasn't more of it!

Here's some background on Exact, from Kellie (aka Ms. B). This is a response to a post I made when my mother made the mistake of downloading something from Mail.com--one of their fronts, and I had been griping about getting rid of the incessant pops:

    Quote Originally Posted by Kellie

They tend to distribute their stuff all bundled together. Or at least if you get one, it will install the others. The ExactToolBar has been distributed in the past under the guise of mail.com toolbar. Exact Advertising is also solely responsible for the ad inventory buys for Mail.com, so who knows what other lovlies come up through the ads shown over there. All it takes is getting something like FavoriteMan, CoolWebSearch, etc on the computer and they will keep instalilng other stuff in background. Many of these apps are now changing their file names frequently which can make detection hard. As well as not having folders for install, but rather just a .dll file dumped in the Windows directory.
That was in 2004, but it seems that Exact Advertising is still blighted. The Paretologic site Trust linked to in this thread says this about "Buddy Browser:"

Target demographic children ages 3 to 13 and all liberal socialist democrap school teachers attracted to feelgood marketing. Privacy policy show real intent to shove multiple Adwhore enema tubes up the family's home Pc. http://www.buddybrowser.com/privacy.cfm?aid=Direct

Typical scumbag affiliate infestation sites pushing this BHO freebee are Softpedia http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/sof...com?safesearch who shove 180Solutions and WhenU to your system at the same time.

Now we know this Adwhore Pedophile preditor is tied monitarily into Bargain Buddy...
    What is Bargain Buddy?

Bargain Buddy AKA Cashback by Bargain Buddy is a piece of adware that allows you to receive a rebate on purchases from participating merchants. Relevant ads are displayed as popups by the Bullseye Network portion of the software while it has a BHO (browser hijacker object) component to handle 404 errors in the form of a web site called Navisearch. All of these products are part of the Bargain Buddy package run by eXact Advertising. .... http://www.pchell.com/support/bargainbuddy.shtml

What network is pushing this POS?

Their privacy policy lists an address - it's a UPS store.

I don't see the "link" with eXact Advertising. Bargain Buddy... Buddy Browser...

It could be something different. Have a look here:
    http://www.creamentas.com/portfolio/buddy/
    http://www.creamentas.com/portfolio.php

Also, I don't see anything wrong with the President of Buddy Browser, Raz Barr.

I hate to don't know exactly who's behind that project, but once again, it could be legitimate

It still could be a real nasty... LOL... the presidents name is derived from the herpes virus ... "RAZ, an Epstein- Barr virus transdominant repressor that modulates the viral reactivation mechanism.... The RAZ protein presents a model for transcriptional control unique among the herpesvirus and distinct from analogous viral and cellular repressors. RAZ, by limiting the availability of Z protein, is likely to modulate EBV reactivation." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...&dopt=Abstract

    Clarification is needed.

All our BHO's buddies have their own development team in third world countries. I don't understand why Buddy Browser would outsourced their project to Creamentas Design Company in UK. They are not specialized in parasitic projects.

I don't understand either why Raz Barr (If it's his own name and not a virus) would sponsor such project without making any money.
If Buddy Browser takes off, I'm afraid we'll see associated downloads from 180Solutions or DirectRevenue.

    To all Buddy Browser's Affiliates!
I just found about this board:

    To make a point clear:

    1. We have nothing to do with “bargain buddy” or any other Spyware, adware, malware or any other parasites for that matter. We would never use, be associated, or condone software programs or companies who hijack, Spam or use any other illegal methods that infect user’s machines.
    2. Try our download and you will see that we have nothing integrated and would never do anything that risk and hurt our user’s online experience.

    3. We have just released our browser after 2 1/2 years of development
Creamentas from UK was and still is our design company. It is a great design company and we do recommend them to all! Great guys that do fabulous work!

    4. We have many happy customers: kids and parents in a very short time, and we plan and intend to make Buddy browser the favorite Internet browser for children.

    5. We welcome all affiliates to our program, and we promise a profitable and solid business relationship with Buddy Browser Inc.
We offer very aggressive payouts for sending traffic to Buddy browser.
If you have any suggestions or comments to improve our program, we would love to hear from you.

    6. We are based in Los Angeles, California.
Our mailing address is a PO Box - yes. And we do check our mail….:-)
For the comment about my name: Raz.. An Israeli Name.
I am one of the founders, and I am the COO of Buddy Browser Inc. There is strong Israeli technology and a Jewish mind beyond Buddy Browser.. for what its worth. We will pay you good for your traffic! No “Cheapskates” here..:-)

    7. We are looking to work with all affiliates and help you to make money with Buddy Browser! We have great development plans for this program and our browser. We are working continuously to offer additional marketing tools to help you drive traffic to Buddy Browser. Stay tuned!

    First, Welcome.
Thanks for coming on board and explaining your difference with “bargain buddy”
Our suspicion was based also on your distribution model with FREE download.
1-Quite often free applications have one or more "parasites" bundled, games, screensavers, emoticons...
2-You offer a percentage of sales to your Affiliates but the product is a free download. How does it work?
I've seen somewhere you have over 900 000 downloads, not bad but an EPC of 0 on ShareASale, not good.

    Thank you both!
Zeus I Totally understands your concern, and I hope it cleared the confusion.
The product is a free download for your surfers to try. After installation they can check the product and play with it a bit before they need to pay for it. They can play with the product and see it in action, just the content links inside are inactive. For activation of the browser they are led to a payment page where they can purchase (one time fee) a full license for $29.95 as stated on our web site.
The free download is just to help them to check it before they decide to pay. They can always safely remove it.
The download number on site is " a little higher than actual" to help you to push more downloads..
We have great conversion from paid traffic (ad words, yahoo paid listings)..I hope affiliates can test and see same conversion or better..Ofcourse it has to be qualified traffic
I hope that helps a bit and thanks for the comments..

    R.

Kark, Bargain Buddy is not a site name or an URL, it's a BHO nickname
    http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/p...x?id=453068324
    or, under an other name
    http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=1145

If you want to see site advisor in action the right URL is: www.cashbackbuddy.com
    http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/cashbackbuddy.com
