    Spring!
Spring arrived last night. I know because we heard peepers. It rained heavily yesterday and we had warm winds from the south. Perfect peeper weather and they didn't disappoint us. It wasn't the full peeper chorus but a few stalwart souls showed up early for the party and sang us to sleep. They were still at it when we woke before dawn this morning.

Just before dawn the birds started squaring off for territory in the woods behind our house. They're putting on quite a show.

Is it Spring yet where you live?

It's here now too, even though the forecast predicted snow today.

Saturday was a brilliant day, sunny and warm. Sydney (my cattle dog) and I traipsed around St. Helen's Island (a man-made Island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River) for a few hours. We saw Canada Goose returning from the South (in a great big V) and Robins singing in the trees (two sure signs that Spring has sprung here in Montreal).

It certainly has cheered me up :-)

Spring was here in Ottawa... only for a few days. They are calling for snow a few times this week. It was great on the weekend but it seemed like it just came to tease us. I just want the snow to go away so I can get out the golf clubs.

I help spring along here in Mtl, by potting up bulbs every fall and then forcing them indoors.

Right now, I've got pots of grape hyacinths, tulips and narcissus scattered around the house, when they won't poke up outside for at least a few more weeks!

    Planted so far:

Peas, limas, beets, broccoli, brussel sprouts, carrots, garlic, all kinds of salad greens, onions, radishes, rhubarb, strawberries, spinach

Also, started philodendron plants to give as gifts next Yule. They should be florist shop fancy by then.

I am going to plant almost 30 kinds of herbs to make up gifts, too. I should be able to really stock up the spice racks and make assorted flavored vinegars, teas, tinctures and infusions for all my friends and family.

I sure HOPE it is spring. Otherwise, I am in big trouble!

Just when you think Spring is finally here it is snowing out again. Not even one week ago it was 22 C (75 F) and now it is below freezing and the white stuff is starting to build up. It is very depressing.

I have come to a conclusion on the switch in weather... I took my golf clubs out over the weekend and cleaned them. My fiance told me not to do it so early becasue it would start sonwing again. I should have listened to her.
