    Misleading Article?
Taking a responsibility of defining "affiliate marketing" an author of this article states that "Generally the commission in affiliate marketing is around 25%-50%." Have I missed something while learning how to play this game?! ...or is this just misleading, to put it mildly?

Not for what I deal in, mainly mall type merchants. I think that's more clickbank, lead type stuff. Ash Aff is not so much an expert as he claims to be. Of course this is the internet, someone can post they're Conan The Barbarian but I know he died awhile back.

It could also be an obsolete article, from maybe 4-6 years ago. Commissions used to be a lot higher on average, and there were many, many per-sale merchants in that range. It would still have been an exaggeration, but not so much as it is today.

Looks like it's not even that. Looks like he's just leading ppl to his site (or should I say a "page"?) where he says the same silly thing, subscribing everything with a "Copyright 2006", and having a bunch of adWords ads all around this - hmmmmm, dont' even know what to call it - "article".

Looks more like affiliate marketing rate in 'downloads'. ie clickbank ebooks or regnow software.

It does, but he/she's not talking "Downloads" Affiliate Marketing. He/she is talking "Affiliate Marketing" in general...

This could be taken from averaging affiliate comissions for normal sales and commisions for free sample stuff.

Since the Freebie stuff usually pays $20 -$30 on giving away a trial

I have merchants that pay me $7 for people to get free stuff

and merchants that pay me $70 for a lead

    What is THAT percentage

I guess if you divide those types with the types like CircuitCity that pay 2%...

in some accounting way, maybe it AVERAGES out to 50%

Every once in a while I read a post from some disenchanted new affiliate...

Some travel companies advertise 50% commisions.
Newbees join and then are amazed that....that means they only SPLIT the commision with the merchant. They actually get 4 or 5 %.
