Anybody else here have St. Patrick Day traditions?

While I'm not Irish that I know of (was adopted as baby and have no idea what my ethnic ties may be) we always cook corned beef and cabbage for dinner. Not much into drinking so we generally skip that part here

My tradition is to replace my coffe at work with a can of guinness. discretly. I've been doing this once a year for the past 3 years. Don't tell my boss!

and for those who are curious, no I don't have a drinking problem. I am usually the DD for people at social events. I may toss one back every 3 months or so. The reason why I do this is in memory of my best friend Brian who was irish and a good Marine. -too long of a story-.

Ah, that's cool. Seems beautiful over there. Was watching Rick Steves' Europe, need to check it again. Think they had some cliffs overlooking the ocean, it was the eastern most or western most point of something

Roughly a dozen people jump of those cliffs every year. Last there I visited the cliffs the coastguard were searching for the body of a young woman who jumped off. The cliffs are roughly 200 meters high. I nearly had a blackout when I saw this photo

I'm 180% Irish. I'm adopted, and both my natural and adoptive parents are very Irish. So there you have it.

My boyfriend is off-the-boat Irish. I met him while I was bartending in an Irish pub. His birthday is Today! So... it doesn't get much more Irish than that. Ireland is definitely beautiful in its own way. (Make sure you check the weather forecast for fog before you see the cliffs of moher - when I went it was so foggy, I would have fallen right off the edge if it weren't for that brilliant stone wall they built!) And, if you can ever visit Achill Island... do.

The last time I was there the "walls" were slabs of slate The visitor center uses the slate as floor tile and it looks brilliant, especially since the slate is fossilized.

Yes, I went at Christmas this year and they're really developing it for the tourists (there was a maquette for the new "visitors center" in the cafeteria - pretty swank). As Dave informed me - its all new (and the only bit I saw in the end).
