How to check my ad is running?
    Hi all,

I'm trying to find out if a particular piece of software or service exists, to carry out a simple task...

    - run a Google search and see if my Adwords ad is being displayed

I know that the Adwords reporting system lets me know how many times my ad was displayed each day, but all it can provide is rank averages, and totals for each day - I need more than that. I need something that can verify my ads are showing, without using the Adwords system, at any particular time.

    Does such a beast exist?

Thanks in advance for any help - Rob.

    http://www.adwordalerts.com/overview.html

(I don't know anyone who uses it, just remember hearing about it's existence. Have never heard any feedback on them, bad or good.)

Oops, I think it uses the API, so it's really the same data seen from within adwords, might not be what you're looking for.

    Thanks for the tip Donuts.

I think what I need is software that:

    1) Runs a Google search
    2) Scrapes the page to find something that is unique to my ad

The free version of WEBCEO will check for your internet placement for up to 5 keywords at a time, and you can tell it to include paid results if you're so inclined.

The software is pretty neat for VERY basic things.

What are you concerned about here?

I mean, for me, whenever I check my ads, from where ever, or on the phone with someone and having them check it, or showing a merchant how I'm promoting, my ads are always there. What's driving your concerns here?

Donuts - I run too many ads to check manually. They are affiliate ads. Often an ad might only have 50% of its usual impressions in one day, and the Google system cannot tell me if it was just a quiet day, or if someone else's ad took the place of mine for half the day.

I need to run checks at random times. It's definitely possible technically, I just prefer to buy something off the shelf than hire a programmer.
