    Any Tax Procrastinators Out There?
Considering it's the 24th, pretty decent for me. Just finished getting everything together for my accountant. I'm so happy. Papa John's time.

I always do some preliminary numbers before the end of the year so I can make year-end decisions, but I don't do the final return, file or pay until I have to.

Don't hate me but I claimed my taxes over a month ago and already got my cheque back. Of course, if I hadn't been getting cash back, I probably would have waited til the last minute.

Yesterday I picked up my bag of 1099s and tax forms in the kitchen where it's been the past 2 months and carried it into my office. Tomorrow I may look inside.

    It's not even April yet.

We just had this discussion last night. We decided that we'd surprise our acccountant this year and get him our stuff on time.

Getting together all of our tax stuff is on my do-to-list for today.

I've already filed my 6 month extensions. Now I've got a whole lot more time to procrastinate.

Met with my accountant yesterday, so the ball is rolling. Now I just need to gather up some additional information for her.

I should be getting a refund this year - even though 2002 came back to haunt me this year (which meant readjusting EVERYTHING )...

Anyway it's a relief to have all the paperwork in, I found a Saint this year who I believe moonlights as an accountant... she was such a HUGE help! I love it when you come across someone who is so helpful, patient and eases your anxieties (esp. when its a difference of owing $900 or $12!) and it will be an even BIGGER relief when I have the money back to show for it.

I did the preliminary stuff last week (like finally buying TurboTax) and crunched all the numbers. Getting a nice federal refund but owe the state almost exactly what I'm getting from Federal.

I only do mine in late March to see if I am missing anything I need sent to me. I never mail off my returns (and I mail them, never do electronic) until the very last day. My thinking has always been that if I get mine in with the bulk of them and make them difficult for them to analyze, then I lower the chances of an audit. Well, right or wrong, I have never been audited, going on 30+ years now. Keeping fingers crossed.

Done as of March 15th, will wait until April 17th to send the checks to IRS and the state. Eventhough, I make quarterly estimate payments, I always end up owing more to the taxman every year. Which is a good thing, I guess.

Yes, definitely a good thing. If you get a refund, you made a tax-free loan to the IRS. If you have to pay (as long as it's not enough that you owe a penalty), you got full use of the money you owed them for as long as possible.

I've been procrastinating on my taxes, which is unusual. I hope to sit down today to put the paperwork together!

    Folks,

FYI, TaxBrain is offering FREE prior years tax prep for 2002, 2003 and 2004 (Fed and State), until then end of the season.

Believe it or not, the IRS is saying that tax payers are owed nearly $2 Billion in refunds for 2002 alone!

Also, I have a 50% off promo code (for this tax season of course) available to ABWers, so if you are interested, just PM me and I'll get that to you.

I try to get it in early because my accountant usually gets slammed, first time I had to file an extension. My first quarterly payment is due mid April so I like to know how much I need to pay and get it in on time and with the correct amount. You could always get it done early and hold on and send it in at the last minute for those thinking it'll keep them from getting an audit

I just mailed my extension requests. Moved the last minute out by 6 months. When it's really the last minute I'll do it. I always do.

Well my accountant dropped the ball. She didn't finish my taxes in time so I had to file an extension. Guess I won't be using her anymore..

I was very happy with what I got back. Went out and bought some new furniture. Apparently I spent a lot on advertising last year, didn't realize how much. So my taxes aren't that bad this year at all.

    Any Tax Procrastinators Out There?
I just sent mine in yesterday. Did 'em Saturday for the IRS and Easter night for the state.

But I wouldn't call that "procrastination." That's just normal! No point in doing any form of w*rk before it's absolutely necessary (unless it's going to bring money IN. If I was getting money IN [a refund], I would have filed as soon as I got my 1099s!).
