    Big Chuck's Rulz of Bizness
(add to this list if you wish)

    (1) When dealing with affiliate managers, realize they are looking after their job (understandably so), not your well being.

    (2) Money rulz.

    (3) it is a "dog eat dog world" and we're all wearing milk bone underwear.

    (3) Trust no one; you can if you want, but when you get burned don't come crying to me.

    (4) I've been arrested on many occasions in my life (back in the day - I'm much better now). Beware of the "good cop, bad cop" routine (affiliate managers play this real well).

    (5) The only situation that is conducive to making allies is when there is money to be made, and then that "friendship" is limited.

    (6) Always keep an eye on "who's sleeping with who" - it is as good as writing on the wall.

    For now, my two cents.

That would be the #1 rule BigChuck. It's ashame, but it's true.

#1 Rule like BigChuck Said "TRUST NO ONE".

Like the wiseman said "First we try, then we trust."

I just watched Entrapment last night - that was a quote used in the movie - but oh how true it is.

We are all just hopeless optomists when it comes to relying on affiliate managers/networks to get paid and verify tracking. I've got a lot of checks supposedly coming to me from LS and BeFree but none have arrived since October. Only the CJ check comes in regularily and without begging. Most affiliate managers only report to the advertising department and have no responsibility to meet sales quaotas..only traffic stats.

So, my rule is as follows:
Don't promote any STUFF unless you have a line of communication with
the Director of Marketing and the Webmaster.

Rule no 1. DTA - Dont Trust anybody (alright)

Rule no 2. Keep your eyes wide open - cos u
might not see it coming (Anytime anyone can beat ur trust)

Rule no 3. Look on all sides of the dice. Each one is different (Every affiliate is diff)

Rule no 4. Don't sleep over the past. If u've committed mistakes in affiliate mktg (there's always a second chance)

Rule no 5. Even a person who has been tried 1000 times could still be left untried.

Rule no 6. Gift the big players, share with your fellow men.

Rule no 7. There's Only YOU in affiliate marketing, First get your ass some reward and then reward others.

    Lol
    Regards

I've learned this the hard way - by getting screwed out of a business by a trusted family member - that no one, in the end, will take better care of you than YOU. If you want to trust someone in a personal relationship, that's fine. But in business, trust no one and get it in writing. Except Chuck, of course.
