I am going to be hosting my mates site (MovieHole.net) on my new server with a php-nuke system in place very early in the new year.

BUT, when he set up his site, the guy who hosts his site registered the domain under his personal name.
Now, this guy hasn't been responding to emails lately, and I can foresee a problem with the transfer of the domain name.

any suggestions as to what our options are?
(I know about how it should have been registered, so no lectures please)

Hi Pete, can't see any option but being really nice to the guy (on the phone) and if that doesn't work, finding another domain.

    Pete,
Did your friend pay him for the domain registration? If so, you guys do have a right to get it back since it is payed for. If not, Mousejockey is correct and you guys may be looking for a new domain. It may be in your interest to contact the registrar and ask them what they usually do in situtations like this. I doubt that they will just hand it over, but it may be worth a shot to contact them.

    Thanks Guys.
My mate has been running his MovieHole site for a few years, and earlier this year paid the guy to register the domain and set up the hosting with his company (in India of all places).
I hope everything works out, because dumping the domain would be a *****.
He curently gets about 2-3000 pageviews per day, and we would want to make sure that all of the traffic made it to the new site.
BUT, we are going to be trying damn hard to get his domain transferred to the new host.
