I was AWOL again - My sister was killed...
She was 16 years old, out at 2 in the morning, and the 'adult' driving was drunk and high. She wanted out of the car, opened the door and he sped off while she was trying to get out. The door hit a pole, as did her - well, I'm sure you can figure it out.

The funeral was a week ago and I still can't believe it. As is the norm in my life, I had a couple okay weeks, and now a couple hellish weeks.

I guess what doesn't kill us can only make us stronger, right?

Oh Lisa, how do I even begin to say how sorry I am? That is so terribly sad and I am so sorry for your loss and your family's loss. ((((hugs))))

I wish there was something that someone could do or say to make it all better - to make your pain go away. But I know that there isn't. If you ever need to talk...

What a terrible terrible loss Lisa! I'm wracking my brains to understand it and frightened out of my wits since my daughter will be turning 16 this year. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. So so sorry :-(

How awful. We will keep you in our prayers. I have a 17 year old and her being a car with others, or driving, scares me. As an ex-paramedic, I've seen way too much to be comfortable with this. I'm very sorry for your loss, this is an extremely difficult time for you and your family.

That's terrible news. So young too. I hope the person responsible gets locked away for a very, very long time.

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

Words can't express how sorry I am not only for your loss and pain but that we are all diminished by the loss of one so young and full of the potential to share this wonderful world with us.

Blessed Be to you and all you care for.

Thank you everyone. My father is going to be entangled in quite a legal battle, that's for sure. The worst part is they are pretty sure the alcohol was supplied by this guy's mother, and it was her vehicle. She seemed to have no problem with letting him serve his underage friends booze and pot, and then drive them home in her car.

I'd be hard pressed to think of something more irresponsible. Unbelievable.

Lisa, I am so sorry. My prayers are with you and your family.

I have a 16 year old son, and this is precisely why he cannot ride in a car with a kid I don't know and hubby and I do all the driving to and from events. I don't care how uncool he feels. That parent's actions are completely despicable.

Let me know if there is anything I can do, even if it is to find you connections via MADD and other groups.

I've had two freinds that lost siblings at the same tender ages. Its a scary time when you think your invinsible...but as a parent its inexcusable. The mother should be held responsible.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Its a difficult time, keep the faith.
