Who ever runs this site : ""
is now linking to me to a page that USED to be on my freebies site , and it lists my site , under a heading of gambling sites, specifically, under free lotto sites ???

This wouldn't normally even spark any interest, but the strange thing is, the page he is linking to (which no longer even exists ), is now the only one showing up for my site on an AOL search !

Funny how everything was going the same for me, month after month , UNTIL... what I thought a stroke of luck , and I had two great weeks at the #1 spot for the search term "free stuff" on AOL.
AFTER THAT, all of a sudden, like a switch went off, my listings begin to vanish, google listings are slowly dissapearing, and something seems very fishy, almost as if some jealous retard , has done something to get my webpages removed or ignored somehow .

Does this make any sense at all to anyone , because it makes no sense at all to me ???

I don't have any clues as to the motivation, but I think it would be smart to get SOME kind of a page at that address...

I kind of doubt that linking to a dead page of yours would wreck your ranking, because it's a known fact that there's lots of dead links on the Net just from the fact that some webmasters never get around to updating their links or abandon their sites, and SEs KNOW the linked-to site has no control over this. I would figure that if any penalties are involved, they would go against the site doing the linking, since dead links show a lack of maintenance at that site.

But since you've got a listing for that page that's sure to be bringing traffic your way, it'd be smart to slap a page up just to catch it. If you don't put free lotto games on, it'll probably have a lousy CR (mistargeted traffic), but you'll probably be able to get SOME conversions out of it... Try to put something Free on (should be easy if you've got a Freebies site ), since they're already looking for Free it'll be at least partly there even if it's not a Lotto site!

get a page up and try and convert any traffic you get

dont link to "bad guys" from abestweb, the last thing that you want is to reward someone who did you wrong by allowing them to find abestweb in their logs so they can then arrive here and learn how to become an expert affiliate marketer

kill those links with double quotes ""

    Thanks Leader and Austin ,
I just put up a page with the same file name that re-directs to another that lists some contests , and killed the link to that site in the first post .

Oh well, so much for re-doing the site with a new look, now it's REALLY new all over again! If not for repeat traffic , and some paid listings I would be starting totally from scratch and making zilch !

Unreal, at this rate, I am now down to about $500 per month in expected monthly earnings from this site from all sources combined.
Grrrr..... You're supposed to up in revenue , not down

I might be totally wrong - lol - but I don't think you would be penalized for anyone linking to you. That would not be fair, how could you control it?

I think where the penality come in would be who YOU link to.

I agree with Leader, get something up on that page!!

    @ Lisa

quote:
I just put up a page with the same file name that re-directs to another

Lisa I am under the impression a redirect page will be deleted from most search engines. Instead of redirecting why not just copy the destination page.
If I am wrong on this somebody will correct me.
