April 11th, 2006, 11:00 PM #1New Version v6.04.08
I am running the instrumentpro scripts & have already put adsense in etc & do not want to disturb my website any more than I have to. I am getting warnings that I need to update my scripts.
My question is do I have to rebuild the whole shebang or can I just update make.pl, make2.pl & view.pl? Am I better off rebuilding the whole thing?

Update make.pl, make2.pl, view.pl (see download links).
Then run make.pl
It is not necessary to replace the templates. Keep your current template files.

April 15th, 2006, 09:38 PM #3Problem with update
OK I updated to the new versions of make.pl, make2.pl & view.pl & got the following error
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@mywebsite and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Any ideas about that?

I forgot to set permissions on the new file to 755. My bad.
It works now!

Then run make.pl
Betty is so large that I had to run make.pl on my PC with Live Pearl a few months back when I originally did it. They are all on different servers.
I tried getting the new Betty on my PC and running make.pl as before but after I uploaded the .db files the site was showing but with no data. No warnings or errors. I had to restore my site from backup.

Ask for ssh access on your server, assuming it is a Linux host. Run the script from the command line just as you would on your PC. I have to do this for Betty and Audible on one site that has only 256 MB RAM in the server. At another (shared) host with more RAM, I can run Audible from the browser.

I finally got it the other day. Active Perl on my PC works, but for some reason it wasn't completing.
My shared hosting won't allow me to run it from the command line. They are real good in every other way so I'll stick with them.

Thanks to everyone for their help but as I said in my last post I simply forgot to set the permissions on the files is why the update didn't work. Once I did that the update worked fine.
Also, neither of my web hosts want to give me SSH capability by the way...but it wasn't necessary.
David has given me nothing but solid advice...and correct 100% of the time.
