Of course this rhetorical question, and one that I already know the answer to. I humbly submit to you why?

Did we impregnate their teenage daughters?
Did we wiz in their swimming pool?
Did we sleep with their spouse?

After all Jim has in his other forum Affiliate Programs - Which Ones Are For You? And Affiliate program management. Why don’t they call them like they see them Spam Programs-Which Ones Are For You? And Spam Program Management.

Do they think if they prick us we don’t bleed?

btw: That should be do not to

Janets actions on the forum, posting my url out of spite and referring to it as spam, is a reflection of Jim Wilson, especially after repeated emails calling for the removal of the url (they removed the entire thread - lol - truth hurts), and for a public apology; there has been no apology. In my emails I warned them that this might "spin out of control", and they could do the right thing, that is remove the link to my site and apologize publicly. But NO, it's not until I thanked her on my web page for driving traffic to my site that the thread was removed. You got to fight fire with fire, and this time they got their asses burnt. I hope this is over with, and we can all bring closure to this situation. If she is half the ***** she is preceived to be, then it aint over, and there are battles still to be fought unconventionally.

I do want to thank all of you that provided me with encouragement and support during this time. Happy New Year!

I hate to be the stupid one, but there is a reason I have the kind of links I have. I don't know what a "relative link" is. basic html here - lol - "a href=http://www.thecouponguy.com"... lol!

I've always used

(base href="http://www.mysite.com")

The only reason I've done this is to save on file size.

Yes by using that in the header you don't have to use the domain at all.

My server won't allow me to do it your way so it may be different for everyone.

I don't see how this would matter to google though.

The exotic code is just like include tags only done with cgi.

Well I may be wrong, but I thought a relative link was one without the http://mysite.com part, in other words just a link to "mypage.html">. This is how I do all of mine, I can drop my website anywhere and not have to change a thing, because none of the links have the domain name part on it.

That is bang on qball0213 (blimey what a name to remember)

That is not quite right, if I used htt://mydomain.com I could transfer my site and it would still work, But if for example you had a directory layout root/directoryone/directorytwo/directorythree/file
and you wanted to move a page from directoryone to directorythree you would have to alter all your links to any other files on that page. Whereas if you used a relative link it would find the files needed whichever directory you used for the page.

To do this you have to write each link relative to your root.

Please let us know if it makes a difference.
I'm very interested in this.

My personal theory has something to do with dmoz.

I do use a keyword URL and relative HD-keyword-packed links (ie. keyw1_keyw2.html, kew1_keyw2_keyw1.html etc). The PR for that site went up this month.

Anyway, I highly doubt that relative links/kw-file-names count as spam.
And it wouldnt really make sense to send sites with a lot of absolute links to the bottom--most sites link that way.

I don't think this could be a problem -- waaaaay to many innocent victims. Consistent navigation is a good thing and most people using includes will use absolute links... and with the same link text... those are pretty much standards of Good Site Development.

And I have all of them. (and no oogie-google voids)

Can anyone show me a site that blows holes in my theory? I don't fancy waiting another month or three to find out if I'm right. I don't need to be told 'you're wrong my site isn't like that' - I need a url.

That is - I want to see a site that has repetition in url/filenames whether (absolute or relative) in greater than 60% of the links, where the repetition is in a link to a page (not a picture or anything else) where the repetition isn't in a link with a question mark, and where the page/site hasn't lost its page rank.

PS: No subdomains either. I think subdomains confuse the new spam detector.

PPS:

Icicle's Theorem -

If its in the url (including filename) it had better not be in more than 50% of the hrefs on that page.

(Don't mind me I'm just thinking aloud).
