Lightbulb Can we lobby GoldenCan to verify tracking.
Migrating 60% of my total Cybermall page views to GoldenCan showcase pages I've seen a drop of 80% in commissions from my shoppers. This should have been a 100% increase in commissions as this tool focuses shoppers before they click to specific landing pages on the merchants sites.

It would be nice if ASIF tests purchases on a clean system every GC merchant at least once a month. GC has to work with may network's proprietary tracking systems and I'm at a loss to see where physical clicks are reported and the GC creative displays credited within network sales reports.

Take Overstock at Linkshare. My GC reports show over 30,000 page views at EcomCity for GC showcases I use for Overstock traffic. I cannot trace one click or sale from GC to Linkshares reports. I get raves from my GC showcase pages and need some proof they do something more then set a cookie. Are those cookies, clicks and sales working for all GC merchants on all networks? A published test purchase report service should be displayed at GC site even if they can't ping test the merchants reporting script like they do at SAS.

Old advice heeded. Therefore my request for proof via public test purchasing report on GC's site. My server stats don't lie and those showcase pages are popular landing/navigation pages, and get bookmark traffic.

just a thought: could the drop be possibly caused by a lack of SE notice of the links, they being javascript?

one of my statcounters does show people clicking around the GoldenCAN links, so I have to assume there is a problem only if one is depending on SE traffic.

GoldenCAN does report impression data on their site for each store.

Not impressions.... page views! I don't just place base GC showcases on my pages. I build merchant showcase pages with pre-sell text, banners and induvidual product links around the prime space GC display. I get PR and SE traffic to these new pages from interior nav links and even outside sites thinking they're kool. I just want GC to expand the trust factor by random test purchases displaying on their "my stores" stats page. They do, after all, act as a network redirecting clicks through their servers.

    ecom,

I don't think the problem is with GoldenCan. I think you aren't giving your shoppers what they want. My guess is they aren't very targeted as your pages don't focus on specific product names or model numbers. So you've probably got people searching for a general category and they aren't finding what they want specifically.

I just looked at your home.htm and you've got laptops, golf balls, clothing, watches and bonsai on the same page. How is anybody going to know what your site is about, yet alone search engine spiders? You just need to focus your site and create smaller, more understandable pages.

    What's wrong with that?

I think that it's a good idea to have a site targeted to the rich and retired executives. A place on where they can shop on the net with the laptop that they bought last week from one of my merchants, while wearing that expensive Armani suit that they purchase last month from one of my links because they liked my site, and decided that I have the best balls to play put-put on their private garden that have all the unique bonsai trees I sold them last year.

    So.....

    What's wrong with that?

EcomCity is a Cybermall ...think Brick-n-Mortar shopping mall. Therefore frontpage tells newbees landing there I offer lots of selections in a variety of shopping categories. The GoldenCan showcase pages are individualized.

and so forth... I'd just like GC to test purchase their merchants to verify tracking for all networks and participating merchants including http://www.ecomcity.com/overstock.htm and post the results in their stats page. Click the Overstock GC display page and choose some categories like Office furnishings ... all click links go off into never never land landing on OS home page for a complete start over by my shopper. I want them landing on the displayed product page for purchase NOW, and verification the GC links tracks sales and shows in the Linkshare creative reports.

The GoldenCan showcase pages are also un-spiderable. So you won't get any traffic that's going to purchase anything. Your page titles are far too general to generate any ready-to-buy customers. I'm just trying to assess your situation and tell you why you aren't getting any sales. You'd be better off using something that can get indexed because you won't get any sales with your site the way it is now.

I don't think GoldenCan should make test purchases. That's your responsibility.

I am tempted to make an impulse purchase today but I just can't make up my mind between the Makita Keyless Drill Chuck, the Ballarini 11 inch Stir Fry Pan, or the Supersonic TV/Radio/Lantern combo.

Decisions, decisions. Anybody got an aspirin?
