    Question Google-Adsense, Yahoo-Publisher Network, MSN???
Google has www.google.com/adsense and Yahoo has publisher.yahoo.com for Publishers. What does MSN have?

Publisher and Advertiser . . . there is a big difference
Yes, I see the post above. It was in response to a question I had from a different post about becoming a publisher for MSN.

I am looking to be a Publisher. The above link is to sign up as an Advertiser. I gave examples of other "Publisher" programs. My question was: Does MSN have a publisher network?" and even though they have the "adCenter" it is only for "Advertisers".

I looked everywhere in the advertising section of MSN and do not see any hint of a publisher network. Only signing up to become an Advertiser with MSN.

They haven't announced one yet, but most experts predict it will come along soon after the adCenter fully clears Beta. G reports huge numbers (as well as slice of their overall ad rev) coming from theirs, so it'll surely come.

And of course you have to be using Windows. Microsoft won't allow us Mac users to sign up due to browser restrictions.

Firefox users have been reporting a lot of issues too.

But firesale on ppc click prices is worth looking at ways around the issue.

An advertiser pays to run ads - anyone can now signup to do that within MSN adCenter - setup your ads that you want to pay for. For now, your ads run / show mainly at MSN's web properties (like msn.com).

A publisher gets paid a slice for showing the ads, usually on their website (that they are the "publisher" of). Small publishers currently can't sign up with MSN to allow contextual (matching the theme of your website) ads to be shown on your site.

I'm on a MAC and got in fine.
There was an "unsecure alert" but you would expect that from M$
btw, they show "Gaming" as an industry...

Adam, what browser did you use? I've got Camino which won't work and IE 6.0 isn't available for Mac.

I had troubling signing up with Firefox - got a message that the browser is not supported. Got account created with IE, setup a campagn. Didn't realize that it also goes through approval process - considering that Microsoft came in so late in the game, they should have just done the Google automated approval process. It seems they have a two step process - the first is automated and the second is manual - which comes into effect if the first one fails. I am still waiting for my test ads to go live.

Finally signed up today. Had a problem, it was due to having a . in one of my keywords. Called the Toll Free number and got someone right away and super nice and helpful.

"A signup fee will be charged on this card."

    $25? $50? $500? $965.09?

Nice how they don't give any clues.

    It's $5, they tell you.

Right now I want to break something. Still buggy as hell, adding keywords is pain. Besides only 100 at a time, error here, error there.

How long to get campaigns approved.
I'm in. They dinged me the $5 to sign up. I set up a couple of campaigns and have been waiting over a day to see them get started.

And yes, it is still quite buggy.

Most of my keywords have been appoved, not sure when they start to show. They should have had Google as a mommy and not Yahoo/Overture.

Traffic will start to trickle in a little more than 1 day usually, but there's some kind of slow ramp-in thing (that I don't think is intentional, more like their ranking algo feeling you out). It'll take 3-4 days usually before you get fairly steady presence in the MSN SERPs. Then, depending on how aggressive and plentiful the Yahoo bidders are, it can squeeze you were you feel like your not getting your share. Not to worry, it'll come. Give it 3-4 days before you see anything, then a week more at times before you feel like your running near capacity.

By the way, I said you no longer need an invite, but forgot to mention you need a double dose of patience.

The support people are not trained well, but they are helpful as all get out in my opinion. But sometimes I have to tell them how it's supposed to work before they "get" it.

It's a pain to enter and set up things, much worse than G, but much better than Y.

Costs are still ~20-40% less than G's actual CPC for the stuf I've been running, but the total search volume / capacity is ~1/4th G's (and I'm not including the volume from G's content match - just search apples to search apples comparison).

Mine started today. Noticed a big jump in traffic to one of my pages and it was one of the two campaigns I started. All keywords are showing up nicely, except no stats. I guess they're delayed. Will read thru it all this weekend when I have some time.
