The sitemap folks at Google are offering more ways to check your site for meeting the Google ideals. One of the things we need to do this is to "Verify". They give you a name for an empty file to upload and then they check to see if it's there. They also put in a bogus file name to trigger a file not found 404. This won't work since the script mod_rewrites every bad file name back to the home page.
I found the solution before finishing this. Use their other option and add a meta tag they give for verification. That worked.

Google recently changed how their Google Sitemap verify function works. The next version of DySE view.pl works correctly with their verify function and you won't have to do anything special. To be released shortly.
