I just got an email virus sent that my software wiped out before I got a good look it it. It tried to automatically open itself.

The sender name was AN I think and the text said something like "This is a Powerful Tool You Should Use". Thats the first one I received so beware if you weren't already aware of it.

Packy,
Got it too, but the software picked it up...I didn'te even get to see any text. I've saved the complete headers and see what I can find out (probably not much). There was one that I received about 3 weeks ago that tried to open automatically...kind of scary that you don't even have to open the attachment...There is an option in Outlook Express that prevents this

Tom, I have always had that option so it won't open. It doesn't stop them though for me. As soon as I click on the email Bam there it is. Thanks!

Psycho,

The path is tools, options, read and then uncheck the Automaticly dowload msg in the viewing pane.

There is another doing the rounds, the
"My Party" virus, it tries to trick users into thinking it's a link to a website when
the URL is actually an attachment containing a portable executable .com file that launches itself to every address.

Other than mailing itself to every email it can find on your computer, what's MyParty supposed to do, damage-wise?

The article didn't seem to mention possible damage (like deleting your stuff, etc.)...

Leader, I think it gets your computer stoned and will allow your computer to only play music by the Rolling Stones.
