Do you prefer javascript or html links?
Most (ok, ALL) of our banners are currently served via javascript, so I am taking a poll to see if it is worthwhile to make html versions available...

So the question is: Do you like javascript banners and links that dynamically update or do you like spiderable html links and banners? And the why would be nice to hear (I know what *I* like and why, lol)

Great poll. No surprises with the result. But the powers that be will not take notice of course. As a certain text says "Seeing they see not, hearing they hear not, and neither do they understand."

In light of recent developments, yeah it happened to be a timely poll. At the time though it was just to justify *me* spending time making html links available to my affiliates....

The number of votes though won't sway "the powers that be" at that other place...

You're switching from JavaScript to HTML links? CJ told me that everyone was going the opposite direction.

Perhaps CJ would like everyone to believe that the industry is going in the opposite direction.

Great poll, Deb!! Excellent feedback from affiliates. Extremely useful, I must say. Extremely! Encourages us at AM Navigator to keep on working on the HTML-generating scripts (to make affiliates' life easier).

    Thanks,

    Geno

I like having a choice. I use html links in all my content, but occasionally have a spot where I don't mind something that will dynamically update.

I can't vote on the poll, but I prefer HTML links in my experience-limited viewpoint. If the customer's browser cannot process the javascript, the ad never shows. An HTML link (even if it points to a dynamic source on the ad server) ensures that as long as the remote server is up that the ad will be displayed, which is a win-win for the publisher and the advertiser.

You can substract one of javascript links, I accidently voted for it.

I like dynamic banners but those can be regular html too.

javascript links sound like the old promise of the "paperless office" - great in theory, but certain types of technology are so basic, simple and useful that there is no need to ever "fix" them.

I have some merchants who give a javascript or html link for build it yourself links, I've tried the javascript for items that I thought might go out of stock, if it happens, they just go to the merchant homepage. Sounds great in principle, but in practise I want to be in control on my websites and the merchants either don't bother, or make decisions I wouldn't have made.

If broken html links go to the homepage or a search page, I'm happy as I will ever be with someone else making the decision.
