    Lightbulb $1million advertising budget
    Hey guys,

Thought I'd do some brainstorming with you. Most of the posts in this forum pertain to affiliates and are not an effective use of a merchant's resources.

So... if you had an extra million to spend on advertising, where would you spend it? (Other than PPC)

I look forward to reading your insightful thoughts.

    Thanks

    Sajjad

Cable TV only. It provides targeted ads much like ppc. And it can be local or national in coverage. No other method can reach more people and give instant credibility.

Would depend on the nature of the advertised product/service and how established the brand already is.

I'd spend some on sponsoring large events (sports and/or industry-related).

Why $1mln, Sajjad? Does ClickInks have a mln they don't know what to do with?

    Hey Geno,

Yeah, my budget is about to dramatically expand and I thought I'd get some input on how best to spend it before I took action.

    Thanks

Actually, I would spend some on small town parade sponsorship or a float in the parade.

We considered sponsoring www.zanevillemanorfarm.com, they do 25 to 30 parades in the Midwest throughout the year.

The rest would go to TV ads to create instant brand recognition.....

So, let me know when you are planning to send the check and I will get on with my plans of spending it.

You really think it's worth it? I read somewhere on ABW, that its $2.5million for a 30 second ad?

I would create an event that featured my products in use - maybe an art fair at a college - using computers and printers only - or in a 300 person office set-up. Then I would find a local or regional cable station to televise it so I could use it in an infomercial of some kind.

If I only had a small budget I would find a long-term podcast with loyal listeners and a PR6 or 7 on the website and buy a sponsorship. No wait - that's what I did. My natural search is up at least 10% and sales are up almost that much after 4 weeks. I'm convinced that a huge part of that is the link from their PR6 front page. Let me know if you want me to "set you up"

Talking "The Sky Is The Limit"
Some nightclubs do it on the weekends.
Disneyland do it almost every night.
    Batman do it too.

So why not buy some kind of light projector, like those floodlight they use to illuminate the sky at night, and blast your site logo into the clouds every night?

If Batman can shine he's logo on the Gotham City skyline, why can't we do the same, and project our logo on our City too?

But now, if money is no object, why not go all the way and buy the same laser materials that Disney uses, and then do a nightly show display of your logos in multicolor lights dancing in the sky?

    Also.

If you live near the mountains, then in the winter when the mountains are covered with snow, you can make those mountains come alive at night by projecting your laser show commercials to the peak of those mountains.

Just think of the free worldwide publicity that you may get, once the people start to spread the news about your multicolor mountain billboards, even the UFO's theory-based comunity, will give you free publicity too.

All of these ideas may sound stupid for the mayority of the people reading it now, but it won't take too long for just a few smart people with enough money, to put any of these ideas to work and begin to capitalize on them.

If they say that "The Sky Is The Limit" why not aim for the sky before someone else beat you to it.

I now just wonder if when the first "Sky Ad's" and "Mountain billboards Advertisement" become available, if I am going to receive any bonus for posting these ideas in public today, May, 30, 2006

I even feel like giving some good domain names away too, so here I go, just buy these domains now, and thank me in the future.

    SkyAds.com
    MountainBillboards.com
    SkyBillboards.com
    BillboardsOnTheSky.com
    CloudsAdvertisement.com
    FloatingAds.com
    SkyLineAdvertisement.com
    MountainAds.com
    AsSeenOnTheSky.com
    AsSeenOnTheMountains.com
    SkyInfomercials.com
    MountainInfomercials.com
    BuyTheSky.com
    BuyTheMountain.com
    BuyACloud.com
    YourAdOnTheSky.com
    YourAdOntheMountain.com

There you have 17 good domain names, buy one or buy them all, but remember that those that take the risk first, are those that may get the cash first too.

Good Luck, and send me my bonus when you make your first million .

    Sal.

Instead of direct advertising, I would spend the money hiring full-time affiliate recruiters and a few flash guys to build link-bait widgets.

You know, build the traffic machine instead of just buying temporary traffic.

I would love to hear some success stories along these lines.

Why not a good domain, some aff software and save on recruiter fees and link bait?

I would love to hear some success stories along these lines.
My postulated way, umm perfume.com (weak example since they were late in the game) .... you, via your way?

    Great Domain!

But what you you mean by "save on recruiter fees and link bait?" Even with a great domain and your own aff software, you still have to build an effective promotion team.

Here's a question I'm mulling over: which should received more ad dollars?
    1) product or
    2) marketing machine
