    I've been hacked!
Well, it was bound to happen. I received an email from my server recommending I update my phpbb forum and I didn't. Well, this is not my site, but a good example of what I found this morning: http://cpgps.netfirms.com/phpbb/nfphpbb/

Had I found it right after the attack I could have backed it up but sadly my servers longest back up was a few days too late. Word of warning to those with forums....back them up and check them often.

Take it from someone that has been there, if it is your own server, do a total reformat, they planted other software too....

I was just about to say the name sounds turkish (although I can't translate what it is. it just sounds turkish. Maybe a fellow turkish board member know what it means)and then saw the google search and it is a Turk...Never seen a turkish hacker.

Sux getting hacked. I would delete all files and reupload new files that weren't on your server. ..What Loxly said...

That's a bummer man, I know how it feels all too well. I'm just curious, what version of phpBB did you have that got hacked? I just updated mine a few weeks ago, so I want to be sure it's not vulnerable.

If you have the latest version of phpBB you're fine. The hole in the software was pretty bad - as can be seen by the numerous hacked sites.

The phpBB people plugged it pretty quickly and it is recommended you upgrade to the latest ASAP.

My version was probably 3-4 years old. I started this forum on a site and it never took off. Checked it a couple a months ago and it had a couple thousand posts. Started thinking how to develop the site but when I finally got back to it today, it was hacked. Oh, well, such is life. Live and learn.

Yes, Suzi. He's Turkish. His signature is a name. Bozkurt means "greywolf", Serdar means "leader".

I always feel they're wasting their time and talent, these hackers, whoever and whereever they are. They could be making a ton of money or do better things on Internet than annoy people. Unless, they're paid by software security firms to scare people into buying their products, of course

I think the hackers like the "hacker fame".

    Example: http://www.google.com/search?q=bozkurtserdar

$175 or whatever it is, seems like a deal if you can avoid getting hacked.
