Affiliate Summit - Orlando this July
Curious if anyone has ever attended and/or is attending this July to Affiliate Summit East? It's in Orlando, FL and I've never been but I'm considering it.

Any thoughts, feedback, etc...? For those who have gone to CJU...is Affiliate Summit very different, the same, worth it???

    Thanks in advance, ~K

I'll be there with my hubby and kids for the weekend prior and the first couple of days at the show. Looking forward to meeting some ABW members.

    We have a booth.

I'll be there with my husband. It's my first affiliate event beyond ecomxpo. I'm really hoping that I get something out of it because it's costing a lot for us to go.

I will be there and it also my first affiliate event except for eComXpo. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I'll be there. In my opinion, it's the best affiliate convention out there. It's larger than any of the others, so there's a ton of networking potential. It's not hosted by any network, so you get a wide variety of educational topics rather than network spin. I've learned a lot from the sessions (which is impressive considering I've been in the business seven years!). Shawn has been very responsive to feedback, and many improvements have been implemented.

There are negatives, too. Since it's so open and large, there are both good and bad players there. Do your due diligence about the networks and merchants you meet there. One of the organizers, Missy Ward, was President of Aluria and now works for CPA Empire.

I'm not sure I would recommend paying for a ticket, but many affiliate programs are running promotions to give out passes. Two (that the other organizer runs) are giving affiliates a free pass for generating $100 in sales in May.

I think someone should design an ABW button that we can wear there (and maybe even a spot on it for us to put our screen name). It would be nice to have an ABW get-together there, too!

Michael, that's a great idea! I'm having our reservations made today for our affiliate reps who will be attending. I'll be there Friday through Tuesday morning when I'll head back home to Miami for SES Latino (anyone hitting that?)

We can all always meet somewhere, be it my booth or another place and have a quick get-together. There will be a ton of parties, I'm sure, but I will be with my family, so I'd rather do something family-oriented, maybe even just get together for some appetizers and drinks.

Is anyone else bringing kids to the kid capital?

We talked about going as a family, but it's going to be hot and crowded at Disney World. Instead, I'm going to the Affiliate Summit by myself and then we'll return to Disney World in the off season as a family.

That's the nice thing about being a full time affiliate. You can go places in off times and/or off seasons, save money, and have a more enjoyable time. Ever go to a movie on a Thursday afternoon? It's like a private screening.

yep. I'm taking the family cause we're vacationing the weekend prior. Not to mention, it's a 4 hour drive for us since we live in Ft. Lauderdale.

You may be coming by yourself, but you'll have friends to hang out with for sure.

Want to go on an airboat ride MC, my treat? Early morning thang - gators come out to sun themselves and warm up their cold blooded bodies at sun up. It's a blast. I'll pick you up and return you safely as well. We're going to have to ship home your gator head from the gift shop, the airlines frown on excessive carrion.

I'd love to go on an airboat ride! That was one thing I really wanted to do when I was in Miami, but it just wasn't feasible with a 6 month old and a 3 year old.

Maybe we could bring along some parasites. The gators aren't picky about what they eat, are they?

    Cool!

Says Mike Nunez, blatantly trying to get himself invited to said "Airboat Ride".

MikeN, you are in, my treat.

MC, done deal. Boggy Creek, here we come. Transportation and all else will be provided, bring your camera and some sunglasses (it's a very wind blown ride).

I'm with you! I love doing things in the off-season! I forget how crowded things can be, and am always surprised when I travel or go to an event during a busy time.

Every once in a while, I forget and venture out during rush hour. Ugh.

It's great to be an affiliate!

You guys need a personal photographer along on that airboat ride, right?

I'll be there, we have a booth. If someone wants to design a button I can put it up at CafePress at base price. Of if no one else designs one, I will
