May 20th, 2006, 06:57 AM #1Watch out for the Click Abuse !!!!
I had some a$$ for 20 day's straight click 15,000 to 20,000 per day on one of my sites and I could not block them because they had my AID in some type of automated program.
Now I am under investigation, I had to fill out a form detailing all of my websites ebooks etc.. All this because the clicks were not coming from my website. But try to explain this via email, and these calls are NOT taken over the phone.
So Now I track every click and hide my AID. But this is probably to much to late. We also had someone I don't know if it's related or not, place some of our links ad's on one of our advertisers around the same time, luckly I had started the tracking and was able to block the calls. But this has not made us look very good. I strongly suppect they are one in the same.
So now we stand to loose $1000's per month.
For those who do not know how or would like to hide your AID use a simple redirection either in html or php.
Make sure your advertiser allows redirects.
PHP: Header("Location: http://www.yoursite.com");
HTML: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.yoursite.com">

May 20th, 2006, 08:22 AM #2apex... you are not alone!
I started a thread a few days ago http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=73376
The click abuse I was getting was on my PPC search campaigns using direct linking, by-passing my site entirely. I got hammered for about 6000 clicks one night on one aid. I still don't know how to correct that problem, so I just shut down the campaign, installed a new AID and resubmitted the whole campaign again. Since I am using direct linking via a redirect to specific pages on a merchants site, any idea how I can correct the problem if it occurs again? And thanks for sharring your crisis too!! It is a shame that CJ doesn't try to help you track things down intead of putting you on notice.The best things in life are not things at all...
