Whatever you do don't go there to find out why. You can learn from me! I went there while looking for topsites to join. Well when I left they had changed my homepage to some lame ass toplist. Now this is the part that really annoys me. Examine this picture closely:

Now every single time I right click I have to see their most annoying name.

God only knows what kind of demonic applet added this ba$t@rd link to my shortcut menu but I want it gone like NOW!

Can anyone please tell me how I might remove this bane from my machine?

Thanks in advance!

Breeze Mate,

At this moment i can think of some possibilities, Perhaps its a program.exe got installed in your pc...or some other form....number 1 it could be an external program just kind of check through you c:\program files
or c:\windows directory ...if you find that

Control panel - add delete programs lol

Well or else perhaps its a sticky source lol to your internet explorer....
Just check your internet explorer directory
Or the properties...You gotta find it somewhere in these options

Boy if u dont...then this guy (whomsoever is the programmer has done something superb) lol
let me think A...a little Bit MORE...

Regards
TGO

TGO, Somehow they have run a java applet that has edited my registry on the fly. Very nice bit of programming but so invasive! I guess they must want to be hated?

Here's your fix

You have to edit your registry though...

follow these paths...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Internet Explorer
MenuExt
>> you should see it here <<

and

HKEY_USERS
.DEFAULT
Software
Microsoft
Internet Explorer
MenuExt
>> you should see it here <<

I had the security settings on low, but no duplication of the effect..

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sure regclean should do the trick.

Pete, It think it was hitagent.com/topsites or toplists or some other grovel. Let me check my history

it was either: http://www.hitagent.com/ranks/bikini/index.html http://www.hitagent.com/ranks

The slime may be lurking because I can't seem to replicate it. They may have turned it off?

Well, Regclean fixed some errors in my registry but didn't get rid of the bane.

A special thanks goes out to FISH!

No problem. My right-click menu has a few more things in it than yours (for download accelerators), so I just searched the registry for their text and hoped HitAgent.com would be listed in the same place
