Easiest way for page rank is to download the google toolbar for your browser. (toolbar.google.com)

Alexa rank is found on the alexa web site and click on the traffic ranking tab at the top. (alexa.com)

Rather than downloading a toolbar, try this:

    http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_checker

Check your website's Google PageRank on multiple Google datacenters.

How do I find and read my alexa and google page ranks
It's been answered about Alexa, which frankly isn't worth much for the average site, but with Google there's a difference between PageRank, which is their basic technology and is a way of valuing links to sites numerically, and a site's rankings in the SERPs.

PageRank is updated internally by Google on a continual basis, but it's only revealed outside of the company around every 3-4 months or so, at which time the backlinks and the Toolbar PR are updated for the public to see.

Other than when they do that, there's no PR that can be known except for a *guess* based on what's shown on the Toolbar from the last update, plus what can be estimated (or guessed) about links that have been added - which only the webmaster will know have been added. Google will, but they only make the info public a few times a year and even then, not too much of it.

For a site's indexing and rankings, you have to find out how the site or its pages are ranking for specific targeted search terms. It's the rankings that are important, that's what brings the traffic.

PageRank is only one out of over 100 factors that go into scoring, so knowing actual rankings is far more important. I've never found those "tools" to be a useful way to spend time, I've always used the Google Toolbar with advanced features and have always found it very, very useful - and handy, it's there within a second for me to use.

Hi All, I think I read somewhere (google maybe?) that the search engines frown on us using these types of ranking tools... Anyone know if that's true? or did I get some bum info?

I found this link a while back (can't remember where). It's an incredible list of 151 SEO tools. You should be able to find whatever you need related to this topic:

Are you saying that Google might punish people for checking the ranking system it developed? Or am I missing something?

Humblefish, I recall reading that too. It was in reference to those places you go to check your pagerank and not using google toolbar. It said the unauthorized programs are frowned upon and you could be penalized.

Good Lord, I'd hate to have my URL fall into the wrong hands then...imagine what a competitor could do simply by using your URL in a rank checking website.
