When you need graphic work done...
Look, I can do the small things, but God didn't give me the ability to draw anything other than a stick figure.

I've been able to manage up to this point, but am now in need of a couple of nice professional logos or banners.

Do you guys (as in the ABW family) go to someone special when you need some design work done? Or is there someone you could recommed? Someone trustworthy that has a reasonable price range?

    Thanks!

I'm going to try to stick with standard graphic logos, such as JPG. Thanks though!

I go to a guy I know. He did my site and a few other sites. He has been tapped by a few major companies to do designs for them too and since he loves me he gives me a 80% discount. He typically charges 3000 and up for a design I get them for 250.

I used "20 dollar banners" for my first graphics. Tuan was fantastic - did an excellent creative job, really fast service and I knew exactly what I was paying up front - which is always something i love , especially for small or on-off items.

I had a look at Alexbet and will explore his services further.

A warning about the red back spider graphics would have been nice...have had too many close encounters with spiders and snakes recently.

begabloomers, I don't know how you Aussies aren't taken down by the thousands every day by spiders and snakes. Don't you have something like 9 out of the 10 deadliest in the world (of each!) in your land?

As for logos, I've never been happy with the little amateurish ones I've come up with for my pages. Is AlexBet good for not only banners and logos, but also general landing page design for PPC?

    Living on adrenaline
    Hi Spacedog,

yep, just about everything is deadly. No kidding. We have a property 10km from a town with a hospital, but out along a dirt road, so the trip takes 15-20 minutes. We live in " death adder country" as its known locally - because yes there are abundant death adders around. Luckily there is an ant- venom available but it must be administered within 20 minutes. But a supply is only kept at the hospital in the next town 45 minutes away. Go figure. I used to be blase but after having two close encounters within a month am a little more cautious.

I was sitting down having a drink when a red bellied black slid less than a foot away from my bare feet and legs a few month a go. He was hot on the trail of an antechinaeus ( small marsupial about the size of a mouse - but related to over macropods like kangaroos). He stopped looked up at me , paused a second, then kept on with his mission. Thank goodness I didn't smell like an antechinaeus.

I have friend who was bitten by a Johnson River freshwater crocodile ( a juvenille). Supposedly they don't attack humans unlike the much larger salties. I never trust anyone who says a species isn't aggressive. Anyone can get cranky.

To date my only injury from my life in the bush is a bite on my toe ( down to the bone ) by a brush tailed possum when I stepped outside bare footed one night in the middle of the night.

Yikes! Time to bribe a physician or two to get some anti-venom shots for your home. Also it sounds like you ought to stop going barefoot, and bare-legged, when you go outside.

Cool Your grandma wears army boots
Funny i don't find that insult very funny now - it's been back to hiking boots or pull on boots again but then you have to check them very carefully before you put them on for other nasties.

Boots must get terribly hot, though. You sound like you really know the flora and fauna well, knowing each species you see by name. Americans seem to have no clue in general unless they live in the middle of the woods or something.

But considering, apparently, that any number of things might come out of the scenery and bite you out there in Australia, that knowledge makes sense. I can't even think of any nasty close-calls to mention. Just having stepped on a bee on two different occasions and suffering for the experiences.

    Not so hot
    Spacedog,

I live in southern Oz so we get the full 4 seasons of weather including snow in winter ( sometimes). It's a big country, up north they have only two seasons- the wet and the dry season.

I do live in the woods, surrounded by national park, but even in our cities we have quite a lot of remnant bushland so spiders, snakes, possums, goannas etc make themselves known just about everywhere.

I wouldn't be walking around bare legged and bare footed in the middle of the night in the burbs - what kind of girl do you think i am ?

Too late. In the city or suburbs you'd get your feet pretty dirty if you walked around barefooted. What kind of girl would that make you?

OK, this utter off-topicness and potential degradation of conversation signify that it's definitely time to go to sleep. Ah, how the summer and self-employment throw off my clock.

What was the thread about? Logos?
